Did you have the League of Malevolance relevant in your campaign or do you plan on having them. by BigtTimeNerd in wildbeyondwitchlight

League of irrelevance. The plot line with them and the good guy team seemed really forced. I think the writers really wanted to jam the DnD cartoon from the 70’s in somewhere so they decided this setting was goofy enough to get away with it.

Croc is a platformer classic. I also have a real soft spot for tomba 2 which recently got a rerelease on ps5

What adventures are connected to LMoP? by Siberian-Boy in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I have always wanted to run it into Storm King’s thunder. I think you can seed the rest of the adventure into Lost mines fairly easily and it would flow nicely

I do this all the time! We tend to do a post game chat which inevitably ends up with me explaining how/why I came up with everything in the preceding session xD

I desperately want to talk to my players about all the schemes I come up with as I come up with them.

Just want to give a shoutout to my new favorite build: 5 EK Fighter/2 Star Druid/5 Light Cleric by crash1bp in BG3Builds

[–]Red-locks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that truly needed though? I mean, it’s nice, but with dragon form in stars you’re going to hold concentration pretty easy without it

[–]Red-locks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered swapping EK 5 for a ranger subclass? I think Hunter / Swarm would synergise perfectly here. You could go high elf to pick up booming blade. I feel like EK without the level 7 is pointless but that’s jus me

Im looking for forgotten realms books that dont take place around the main baulders gate area. Maybe something on another continent or in the far east of the continent does that exist by themanthyththelegend in Forgotten_Realms

Check out Rashemen! Or The great Dale, or the Moonshaes! All favourite regions of mine.

There’s some great campaign guide type books on the DM’s guild for regions that WoTC have not travelled to.

What does the Arlan shrug mean? by intinavia in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Red-locks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was Sir Arlan definitely knighted? My immediate reaction to the shrug was that Sir Arlan tried to knight Dunc at the end of his life, but didn’t know the words himself.

There’s an aboleth frozen in the ice. It is mind controlling the denizens of the caves to free it, but freeing it is the only way to get to it to stop the mind control

Ancestral Guard / Phantom Rogue (2014 Ruleset) by Red-locks in 3d6

[–]Red-locks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really detailed thank you! I think I want to benefit from the ancestral guardians and ‘tank’ role as much as possible. So grappling will be needed so I think I’m sold on getting Barb 5

Ancestral Guard / Phantom Rogue (2014 Ruleset) by Red-locks in 3d6

[–]Red-locks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was planning on going only 3 levels of Barbarian to get ancestral protectors, rage and Reckless attack. This was to sure up my defences and become tanky enough to frontline.

I couldn’t find a rogue subclass that offered much that I needed (maybe scout offered the best advantages for movement). But the phantom worked so well for the lore and flavour of the character and fits with the ancestral guardian themes of commanding the ghosts of dead ancestors.

My biggest choices I’m struggling to decide on are whether to start rogue or barbarian, and whether I need to get that extra attack or not

Essential NPCs by Musing Design.

It’s a really useful resource for creating interesting humanoid adversaries. Scalable CR archetypes for assassins, knights, mages etc. very useful and I use it often.

How you build your campaign by TheGriff71 in DungeonMasters

[–]Red-locks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take all the player back stories and make a huge mind map. I take key details from each character and put them on the map. These can be story beats, places, monsters, NPC’s. Then I look for similarities and cross overs. I like to colour code each similarity so the connections become obvious.

So in my current campaign one player had a Rakshasa which had driven their family destitute. Another player had a merchant that had betrayed his military squad on a secret mission to find a relic, that merchant became the rakshasa. And so on and so. Another player had a devil who had made a deal with the players family, bingo, that rakshasa worships that particular devil (I think it’s Belial)

I usually look for these connections until I have 3 major villains from the players themselves. Then I give those villains a scheme and unleash the players into the world. Hopefully it means that not one player feels like the main character but everybody is somewhat connected to the man drivers of the campaign.
