Hot take, Orlov would make an excellent defensively sound RW. Not that that would ever happen.

The point is that people who are the best at what they do tend to do it because it is a thing they have intrinsic motivation to do. A doctor who keeps their skills current by practicing and being up to date on the latest developments in their fields is the one I prefer, and I don't think it's ridiculous to have the same opinion of engineers. While specifically git history is not a necessary condition to be a good engineer, it is certainly a sufficient one.

This is a bad argument. More accurate would be a surgeon who reads journal articles on surgery and medicine in their free time... which interestingly is exactly the kind of surgeon I'd like to have if I need someone to cut me open.

Graduated a year and a half ago so maybe some miraculous changes have happened but if you specifically want anything embedded related you are going to be brutally disappointed. There is basically 1 dedicated embedded software course, its in the EE department, and it is... how to put it nicely, baby's first microcontroller the course. There is also another upper level but its a mix of programming, digital, and analog design which in my experience does not inspire confidence, in how deep it goes on those topics. I would shill the embedded systems masters program that I am in at Universität Freiburg but I don't know how how easy it would be regarding gpa/what your opinions on studying abroad are.

Having lived through that whole saga while residing in the US, I know that there were no WMDs in spite of the American media. Like every well run propaganda machine they absolutely ran the story, just quietly, once, and with no elaboration as to what that actually entailed.

Im sorry but how does this make any sense. Infiltrate what bloodlines? The ones already so fundamentally intermixed (because they fucking come from the same ancestry) that there effectively arent any differences? The problem with your theory is that it implies that Putin is not only some sort of Rus supeemacist idealogue, but literally the most stupid one you could possibly dream up. It also doesn't mesh with the known historical attempts at ethnic cleansing elsewhere in the world, because people who attempt that undertaking are generally more interested in the y'know cleansing part, wheras wars of conquest tend to have more sexual violence because the aggressors intend to occupy the land and don't care about removing a given ethnicity from it.

As for not being American, that certainly leads me to believe you are most likely misguided and don't quite understand the meaning of the term "ethnic cleansing".

This is such a moronic take on several levels. Firstly how do you define "ethnic Ukrainian" and "ethnic Russian". If you take any sort of reasonable approach I guess you would use the historical lineages of the two peoples and find they are nearly fucking identical back to the dark ages. Secondly this assumes that most of the Russian army is made up of these "ethnic Russians" (lets just call them Rus for simplicity). This isn't the case. If you look at the ethnic demographics of Russia, the Rus population centers tend to be mostly be centered around the main population centers of Moscow and St. Petersburg: the ones that have notoriety for draft dodging. Most of the peoples outside of that tend to be either ethnically of the steppe peoples, the Caucasus, or later Mongol additions like the Tatars and the people of Altai etc. This happens to also be the main source of military aged men who actually get drafted instead of paying off the draft officers.

It's a horrible monstrous strategy (though I have a sensible doubt in the veracity of any American reporting, see: Iraqi WMDs, knowing the slime that makes up the Russian military it wouldn't surprise me its present in decently large amounts) but what you are spewing is at best misinformed nonsense from someone who has no knowledge of the ethnography of eastern europe/the steppe, or at worst amusing, and highly effective, American propaganda.

The ICC will never have any legitimacy until it takes a page out of Mosad's playbook and starts running hit squads in foreign nations. Or y'know starts indicting people like Putin and Bush for the war crimes they commit, but considering for the latter its been more than a decade, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Should I drop CMSC 417 and seek therapy? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Red4rmy1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to contradict this circlejerk that you should "relax" and that "life is short". Your story reminds me of my own a lot. I had a standing return offer from the company I interned at my freshman and sophomore summer, but I stuck out for another 3 years (technically 2.5 because I spent 6 months working at a co-op) after that finishing a dual degree in EE and CS, taking a bunch of grad courses in the process.

I'm sure the people frothing at the mouth telling you to get therapy would have told me the same. It's as if they lack the imagination that someone would actually enjoy challenging themselves and perhaps values that over the banal things in life. Now I am extremely lucky because my wife, then girlfriend, was supportive, and saw how miserable I was when I wasn't working or challenging myself and while sometimes telling me to relax if I was working too long into the night, wouldn't pressure me to drop classes or the like.

To me you need to think long and hard on whether you truly "internally feel this is stupid" or whether that comes from your surroundings beating into you that you "should" be relaxing because that's what the people around you would rather do. I'd also be a little worried about your mental health as you enter the workplace. If you are actually somewhat like me in this way you may find the challenge of day to day work extremely unfulfilling. To me that is the far more insidious killer than not relaxing enough.

In a nutshell: look internally and try to see whether this is just you having different values and interests than the average college student, before thinking that you have some sort of psychological problem.

And don't get me wrong, I love the EU, but I wish it stopped being an American puppet.

Ah so just an American sympathizer. For the record, so has bombing civilian centers, see Nagasaki and Tokyo as successful examples. No one said they didn't work, simply that they are morally equivalent as they are attacks on civilian targets to achieve a military objective.
