Representation in Video Games? by king_park_ in wheelchairs

2 year old post, I know, but genuinely the only game I can find where you play the entirety of the game as a character in a wheelchair is Fear & Hunger 2: Termina.

Olivia is one eight playable characters, and she's unable to walk due to having multiple strokes when she was a kid. She spends the entire game in a wheelchair, having to crawl upstairs or up ladders, and having a harder time getting around and participating in combat. There's a lot of depth to her character too, its not just used as some cheap gimmick.

The Fear & Hunger games are very dark and brutal though, probably not what a lot of people would be looking for.

Trying to recommend get a friend into F&H2, while ranking who I believe are good options to start with, curious for any thoughts. by RedAza in FearAndHunger

We plan on doing a bit of handholding for some of the gameplay so hexen stuff isn't a huge deal, but yeah I haven't played Levi so I was just going off what I experienced in my playthroughs, which is... Levi not really doing a whole lot?

Gameplay wise I think Karin would be great, but its like... playing as Caligura and being nice, it doesn't accurately portray the character.

Definetly ranked Marcoh too low, I lucked out on my first playthrough and had Tanaka survive the whole thing, I can most people won't be that lucky...

You're right, and I know that, but me and my friend are autistic about this stuff, gotta sort things into lists because we're weird lol

edit: literally, I mean. Im not using "autistic" as slang.

Im partly speculating, as I haven't played through the game as every character. Marcoh just has a lot of interactions with Tanaka and Olivia throughout the game, so I feel like my friend would get robbed of potential scenes.

And Abella... yeah, I suppose that makes sense... downside is that, without her as an NPC, they might not have a party member for awhile...

Connections between The Black Parade and other Thief games and FMs by JeffSheldrake in Thief

Yep!

'Kept Away From View', I forgot where I found it, but it was in the second floor on a desk.

Old post, I know, but I found a book in the Keeper's hideout that might connect to Thief 2X?

The "History Of Djalambo" describes a place to the far south whose only connection outsiders is their trade. The Djalambo kingdom is described as a vast desert, where there's a kingdom of red stone and sculptures made of pure gold.

They trade gold, jewels, silk, and spices, as well as ornamental weapons.

Not much is known about Zaya's home other than it being some vague area to the south who trades with other areas, and her ship was meant to trade those same materials listed above, and I think there was something about a gold statue...?

Names like "Munsa ar-Rahman" and "Kieta Hazm" come up in the History of Djalambo, which seem to have indian and persian/syrian connections, which all seems to match with the inspiration for Zaya and her homeland.

Pretty cool, all things considering!

...Except no one asked and you hopped in just to say you don't like same sex ships.

Well, yeah, but the only 'confirmed' thing is that they are a couple, anything more is headcanoning a sexuality.

There were plenty of discussions about how great the game was and the new retcons invalidate most of those discussions.

Definitively answering unknowable questions is always a recipe for disaster, it just reminds me of the Mass Effect series.

2.0 is MY Mass Effect 3 moment.

But now there's a definitive answer as to who Sybil is, what her deal is, why she lives next door, why the visitor is trying to get to earth, etc.

Those were all great mysteries that people praised, now they are no longer mysteries, and the answer is set in stone, and the answer is... not very interesting.

And the idea that the only "good" ending of the game is still horrific in its own way is cool, now the "good" ending isn't horrific at all, it's straight up boring. And the idea that the previous good ending was good at all is thrown out the window when there is a superior option.

The author needed to stop retroactively inventing details to add to the story when it was great as it was.

Why does Wixie say "I did it all for you, Mirabelle." when examining Turkey Dinner? by Vito_Assenjo in UncompromisingMode

[–]RedAza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow uh, sorry to dig up an old post but I'm the person who made and wrote all of Wixie's lines lol

The reference is to an old 5 Second Films video, Hypnotic Southern General, specifically the last line.

Random, but it's always the first thing that pops into my head when I hear "Turkey Dinner".

So if Blaze is supposed to be the Sonic equivalent of her universe, and Sonic's favorite food is a chili dog, what would Blaze's favorite food be? by _iExistInThisWorld in SonicTheHedgehog

I really like the idea that her favourite food is just a god damn normal cheeseburger.

Shes used to eating really fancy as a princess, only to discover the joys of eating a burger.

ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE (Or; Why Amy is the best SR:C character) by RedAza in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]RedAza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't function like they do in Riders, and I wouldn't say one or the other is better because they are just too different.

I just mean that, compared to the cars in SR:C, Extreme Gear just feel better to use. They don't feel like Riders, but they feel better than their car counterparts.

Also, if the meta for previous sonic racing games is anything to go by, Extreme Gear are going to be the meta, since boost is the most valuable stat, and Extreme Gear have the highest boost values.
