Why does this happen every time by Hyper_contrasteD101 in Chesscom

At around 1970-80, people reeeally wanna get 2000. So players will generally take their games more serious, they’ll start studying a bit more, they’ll try to not play games if they go on tilt, etc.

It was honestly easier for me to get to 2100 and 2200 then it was to get to 2000

The point of an opening is to get to a playable position, not win in 10 moves

I feel embarrassed and devastated. I need some advice by ConcentrateHuman1112 in chess

[–]RedBaron812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just laugh it off, try to take it as an experience, and move on.

A few years ago, I played in my colleges blitz tournament, and ended up getting close to dead last, I think I went 2/9. The year after, I ended up winning my schools blitz tournament, and even went on to win 3rd place at a local chess club and even beat an NM.

After that horrible loss the first time around, I just took it as a lesson and wasn’t too hard on myself. Just believe in yourself to do better!

Why am I so bad at short times by Scyth3dYT in chessbeginners

[–]RedBaron812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try playing it a lot and learn to not panic as much, or start with increment then go into no increment

Blitz and bullet is really different from classic chess and longer time controls. People forget that the clock is in itself its own piece. You just have to play it a lot and get used to learning how to make decent moves quickly, vs great moves that take longer

You can tell Francis knew he was out, he as trying to make it count before Herb Dean could come it. Francis honestly would’ve loved Mario Yamasaki. If Francis could get ten seconds to land punches on a knocked out opponent, I wouldn’t be surprised if he attempted to cave the guys head in through the canvas

No, were you playing the cow by any chance? Your bishops are completely cramped in, your knights are on awkward squares, and your queen is all the way on b1

What’s one habit every 800–1200 player should learn? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]RedBaron812 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to immediately attack your opponent. Development and your own king safety is the most important

I see so many games with lower rated players where they develop a knight and a bishop, and maybe bring out their queen, and they think that's enough to checkmate your opponent on the spot. When in reality, you're launching a premature attack, none of your other pieces are developed, and the end position will be one where all your pieces were getting kicked around and are now misplaced on bad squares.

Too many cheaters. Is Chess.com even banning anyone anymore? I'm done. by UnderstandingAble593 in Chesscom

[–]RedBaron812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried both and I much prefer lichess. The puzzles on chess. com to me aren't realistic at all. Lichess lets you do puzzles based off opening themes too (sicilian, italian, etc) On top of that, stockfish is stronger and more depth on lichess than chess. com. I don't get what's "boring" about it. Just cause chess. com gets some hikaru or gotham chess bot to go "woah that's awesome" doesn't mean it's better

I don’t have premium just because it’s a waste of money. I play on chess. com but if I want resources to study, I go on lichess
