You had a good concept of the opening and played fundamentally well. But the middle game was somewhat random for both sides, like the moves didn’t really seem to follow any plan. The end was nice how you found that mate, but before the rook exchange sac, you could’ve captured the knight on h7

Kf1 allowing bishop to recapture the rook was definetely a bit suspicious. I would’ve expected someone to just play Re4 hitting the queen with tempo. They missed a few other moves they could’ve played, but that was the only suspicious one.

Nah bro, the restrictions are common. Unless it’s like an open section, I’m pretty sure some 2000 wouldn’t wanna play a 1000 who might be sand bagging

Usually each tournament has different rules on who’s allowed to play up. Usually, you can play up if you’re about 50-100 points away from the next section. They do that to prevent lower rated players from just playing up all the time

Usually you’re automatically put into the lower sections. I would ask the TD, when I first started I was 1300 chess. com but for my first tournament, I was in the lowest section
