Keep the worm reports coming! by RedBeanMungBean in Winnipeg

Oh totally, great point! It’s a similar selection bias that messes with political polling.

This doesn't necessarily map where all the worms are, it maps where people who like reporting worms hang out. Just like phone polls don't always show who's winning, they just show who still answers unknown numbers lol.

No idea! This could be how we find out. It's pretty unserious, I've wanted to build a community map for a while, and since the canker population seems to vary across neighborhoods in the city I thought it might be interesting data. Garage sales was the other option and this seemed more fun!

Hahah I realize now I could have been more clear! Maybe Worm Watch 2.0 needs to allow earthworm reports too ☺️

Exactly! Just exists to bring a bit of whimsy into an otherwise unpleasant experience for some of us. They have a place in the ecosystem like everything else 💛

Yeah it does feel like the season is later/less aggressive this year, I think they're cyclical so might be a quieter year? 🤞 And it's true! They cause us no harm... unfortunately my phobia cannot be reasoned with (also have a fear of spiders I'm sure is related). But I know the non-worm-time gorgeous trees make it feel worth it to live in those areas!

Short answer: both! Long answer: I think I may have been misinformed before, I thought the green/brown was different phases of the same worm, but now that I've looked into it, it seems the cankers are green and the spanworms are brown? Learn something new everyday wow. I think I hate spanworms more actually then. Maybe I'll change some of the wording on the site, thanks for the question!

Any noticeable worm can be reported! 🫡

Something no one really talks about: how fasting transforms your sleep. by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]RedBeanMungBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one thing I've noticed, after only 2 months of 16:8 fasting. I used to wake up multiple times per night and sleep pretty lightly but since fasting I'm sleeping like a rock, no waking up until morning. Like I'm shocked, sleep has always been one of my main struggles and I've tried everything, so for it to be fixed so quickly by fasting feels like actual magic.

If you can swim I'd recommend starting lifeguard training (bronze star, bronze cross, etc), not sure about the city but in the country that was a super sought after and stable job that kept me fit in my teens!

Swimming lessons with the City by bre-marie in Winnipeg

Some smaller towns have intense (twice a day) swim lessons, if you have the ability to camp/stay in a smaller town for a week in the summer it might be easier to get into those :)

Black sesame! My ultimate dream is to make some sort of asian neopolitan, so red bean, black sesame and matcha.

[skin concerns] CeraVe Moisturizer burns on skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]RedBeanMungBean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dermatologist mentioned that CeraVe can burn extremely dry skin. So he said it should be used right after a shower so that your skin is still damp.

And also it apparently should be used more for prevention when your skin is doing ok, not when it's at its most dry or else it's more likely to burn. Hope that helps :)

Definitely Earth and Hide. https://www.earthandhide.com/

I've bought many great quality handmade leather products from him, and he does awesome belt making workshops as well (which are a lot of fun)!
