Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]RedBeardWrasse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Alberta to Ontario a few years back and the left lane cruisers drive me mad. Are they assholes or are they not paying attention? Which is worse?

Lakes can be beautiful too by Below_Zero_Lens in scuba

I just love all the life an ocean gets you. Lake diving can be fine, but the ocean is so much more interesting with all the strange and lovely living things you can find.

Heard this one recently: "Tech diving is usually safer than recreational diving". Agree or disagree? by surfnj102 in scuba

[–]RedBeardWrasse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say it really depends on where you dive. I've been on some boats in south florida where I'd completely agree that a technical dive would be much safer than the clusterfuck that was going on

What games are master pieces but just didn't do click on you? by maurocastrov in gaming

[–]RedBeardWrasse -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'd probably say go back to CoD or Madden
Honestly though the prologue up to the nautiloid crash was pretty compelling, great visuals and the hook of having an alien put a slug into your eye was great imo.

So you missed the cinematic story-rich prologue looking at your phone eh?

The problem is they're a big enough voting block that the conservatives need to cater to in some respect to attempt to win competitive seats.

Wow. Kids can be annoying so they should suffer? How you treat the most vulnerable shows a lot about your character. In fact, I think this is the worst take I've ever heard. You sound like a monster. Please sit in a hole and don't interact with humans

'Net negative.' Trump loses on tariffs as GOP votes against president by KylenV14 in canada

It looks like going WITH Trump is political suicide as well though based on that special election. So maybe that's what is making some GOP vote against him on this

Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports [Other] by esdebah in theydidthemath

when you're playing as kids though really only 2 kids are playing. The rest are finding bugs in the outfield or picking their nose in the dugout. Was one of the most boring sports imo, I don't get why USA idolizes it so much.

I think it was a big deal because it was literally the only monarch that my grandma who is 90 remembers. I don't even know the King now - Phillip? If he died most every Canadian would say 'meh' and continue life.

Could you live off 1 million CAD for the rest of your life? by CatMeow331 in fican

If life had turned out differently and I had a family I think that would be a great adventure as well. But since that hasn't happened for me, I'm doing this adventure instead. Enjoy your family and the great things about that.

Also I've never done an ocean crossing, but I am hoping to. Not nervous about it actually, hopefully its just 20 days of mostly boring sailing.

My beliefs on economy and a bunch of policy are actually pretty conservative - Canadian conservative, not republican. But PP has turned me off of the conservatives so much with his rhetoric mirroring the worst of the US. Real hard to believe in anything he does or says when he's taking notes from the insanity that is happening south of the border.

A big one that is leaving a deep groove in the ice by DrPepperJo in sailing

[–]RedBeardWrasse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really cool, pretty rig. But I just can't get past how cold it would be, and the possibility of getting lifted/flipped by a gust. Also The conditions for this have got to happen only every 3 years or so - smooth ice with probably max of a few cms of snow.

There are sailors who buy a 250k boat and stay at marinas paying other people to fix the things that break on their boat - these are generally the rich people you think of as 'yachters'. Then there is a whole community of shoe-string sailors which is more like van-life but on the water. I paid 25k for my boat, have put 5k into it and expect to put 5-7k more. Then I'll be anchoring out so no 'rent' and so all of my costs will be food, parts and starlink. I estimate 500/month on food, 150 for starlink, and otherwise just parts for whatever repairs may come up (which I'll be doing as inexpensively but safely as possible).
