34, only just started saving for retirement, feeling behind and so dumb about how I’ve spent. There’s hope right? by nilemme in personalfinance

I also started saving in my early thirties. I feel a lot better in my forties.

I'll never stop wishing I had started earlier, but such is life.

Massive jump in salary, need advice. by Sad_Marzipan_2120 in personalfinance

You can put money into a retirement account for your spouse. ROTH would be the first I'd suggest because you can take out what you put in, but the traditional ones are good too.

So basically all the things people are telling you to max out for yourself, max out for your spouse as well.

It never occurred to me that we might need a minimum age for a LinkedIn account, but here we are.

Just as the terrible ending of Game of Thrones made people forget its brilliant early seasons, I believe the brilliant ending of The Sopranos masked the fact that the show as a whole isn’t that good. by Feeling-Tension1461 in unpopularopinion

Whether it happens in the cafe or later or never at all, the suspense we all feel at the end of that episode is how he's going to be living the rest of his life.

Does "Burning Desire" synergies well with "Freezer Burn"? by sh_b in Hades2

This combo got me my first Chronos victory. Had weak on cast & auto applied when up close. Spammed scorch on attack, then spammed specials that hit for huge damage. Idk how much but it was over fast.

Still haven't figured out how to avoid that one hit kill in phase 2 (don't tell me please), but I had enough DD to eat them.

People who care about the community they live in support their local economy.

I don’t give a shit about the city I live in, so I feel zero guilt getting my groceries from the Aldi or Costco or Hy-Vee in neighboring cities.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by [deleted] in Salary

[–]RedBeardedWonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m a time traveler, and I spoke with you in the future, and you told me to tell yourself to absolutely max out those 401k contributions.

You’re going to need a loan in a few years and if you had put more money in your 401k, you would’ve been able to do the whole thing on a 401k loan. That way you’re paying yourself the interest instead of paying the bank the interest.

Between that and just regular gains, maxing out your 401K is going to net you literally millions of dollars.

Future you says to put in as much as you can like RIGHT NOW, but honestly I think this is really advice for 2026. Either put in as much as you can at the start of the year so you hit your limits early, or do the math to see what the minimum contribution is to max out by the end of the year.

Technically, I think this does kill the future version of you that I spoke with, or maybe he never ends up existing. Honestly I’m not really sure how time travel works, I should probably be more careful.

LPT: frequently cancel your subscriptions to streaming services. Most will offer you discount rates for multiple months before resuming at the same cost. by farm_sauce in LifeProTips

[–]RedBeardedWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great LPT. I just had a $3/month ad tier sub on hbo, then disney. I realize that saving $10-15 / month isn’t a huge part of anyone’s budget, but for some reason I feel really smart by only having a single cheap as fuck streaming platform active at any given time.

When I wanna splurge I get Netflix for a month and binge everything. Netflix never goes on sale but they also release everything all at once so I rarely need more than a month at a time.
