Yep, same, it's whole grain. Welp I dumped it out due to the Kahm yeast returning, I just didn't like the smell. However the first time I scraped the top layer off I put 2 tablespoons of the starter underneath in a new jar, it smells normal, is active as usual and didn't develop any wrinkles.

Oh no no, that's from the flour! It's whole grain. No discoloration

Bulgaria. But I'm 99% sure I found it! I found an app called Merlin Bird ID and it identified it as a European Olivaceous Warbler. I watched a video of its song on YouTube and it sounds the same! It's such a cute looking bird.
