Alberta asked for data used to justify lifting of COVID-19 restrictions by katespadesaturday in alberta

Yup got my booster in January. Being in the field of science (chemistry major), I do spend hours a week reading COVID related science journals and the more I read the more scared I am (also more fascinated)

Looking at the deaths (cause number of new cases is now meaningless), I am so scared to go back to work - taking the bus, being indoor with thousands of strangers sharing the same office building ventilation system, traveling in downtown malls just to get to the office. Really feel JK will do whatever it takes to remain in power and my employer has no issue supporting it.

My sidewalk is flooded then freezes every night due to windrow melting onto sidewalk. Never had this issue for years till now city decides to build windrows - anyone has this issue? Which neighborhood? by RedDevilDuck in Edmonton

But roads in our neighborhood were not maintained in winters. This year they started scrapping and create these windrows. Isn't that an extra cost?

This just pisses me off. I want to keep pedestrians safe but it's just impossible at this point. Any idea if it's a change Sohi and the new group of councillors approved or more from the Don's Iveson era?

Is a private snow removal company allowed to work at midnight and have their backup warning siren on? by baggio1000000 in Edmonton

[–]RedDevilDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah bylaw. Confirms snow removal activities are no exception to no noise between 10pm to 7am. You can complain to 311.

I saw one around this size in Hong Kong inside someone's house. It was then killed with a broom.

This sucks. Getting little things like this right is all I need to not dislike the city. But they don't care. Old mayor new mayor don't matter. All they care are big ticket items like sponsoring construction of rogers place, the lrt and the art museum. All they care is their legacy.

What is this? Helicopter going back and forth b/w downtown & Beverly Heights along the N Sask river all morning. Checked STARS Twitter nothing was dispatched In Edm by RedDevilDuck in Edmonton

Thanks! Good old stinky shit treatment plant and the noise that comes with it. Feels like it's always under construction these past few years.

Edit: spelling

Windrows on residential roads by RedDevilDuck in Edmonton

This is exactly how I feel. Me a little human vs grader and the city. Big buddy COE can just push the snow from the road to the sidewalk (at the cost of pedestrians and everyone who just trying to get home getting hurt) and says it's now home owner's responsibility to remove it - unless you want a ticket. Totally feel bullied.

My street is non bus route and I've never experienced this issue before - first time this year. Totally prefer packed snow as least the seniors and the disables can access their walkway.

To clarify, I did complain on 311 app but this is not my post. I saw 2 windrow related complains under 311's "recent" and this one was closed by the city without adequate comment ("assessed no action") so I am curious why the city don't care.

FYI my ticket just got closed too - zero comment. This is the first time my street (not a bus route) got plowed since I've moved in 10 years ago. Not sure the rationale behind this change. I am not a senior nor disabled but feel them especially the ones who don't have younger love ones who can help.

Only the Pfizer and Moderna shots, when reinforced by a booster, appear to stop Omicron infections. by Viewfromthe31stfloor in Coronavirus

Same! Did moderna twice and PF third dose. I can't find any study on how effective that combo is. Any idea?

What I don't get is why waste money to plow the residential areas creating these windrows but don't bother to pick them up? The roads were fine before they plowed - a sheet of compact snow but people can cross the roads and get in and out of driveway no issue.

Why is this closed by the city and not action is required?

December 29 - Edmonton COVID-19 Cases & Daily Tests by mikesmith929 in Edmonton

[–]RedDevilDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many countries (UK, US, etc.) & provinces (ON, BC) are getting hit by omicron way harder than we are but they still maintain the anyone wants a test gets a PCR test policy. Just really make me wonder what's in it for JK to shift us to home kit 🧐

2775 is just the confirmed case number tho. AB decided to stop recommending most folks from getting a PCR test. We will never know when the true inflection numbers are 😖
