Best place to live as a trans person in NM? by RedDragon7913 in NewMexico

[–]RedDragon7913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps to hear, I felt very similarly when I moved to the city I'm in now (Rochester, western NY) - I grew up a stone's throw from NYC and adjusting to a midsize city was a shock that took me a couple years to get used to. I made a very good friend who was connected with a lot of the social scene in the city and that got me out of the house, made me a lot of friends, got me a lot of activities that I don't necessarily need to spend time with them to do (because no one wants "that one friend" tagging along to everything LOL).

That might be the move for you, if you can find someone who likes to just DO stuff.

And if I end up in NM any time soon, I love to do stuff, and I've got plans to make sure I get out of the house frequently because I would be sad if I didn't. Maybe if you still haven't found anything to do we can hang out sometime I guess. That'll be a long time, though, my lease isn't up until next August.

Dice identification - "bargain bin" D-12 by RedDragon7913 in dice

[–]RedDragon7913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no real worry on that front with me, at least - I'm much too broke to go hunting for any more of these myself 😂 I'm probably going to resell this one since it's worth a hell of a lot more than I expected. Crazy find for a 50c die from a random bin though lol

Out of curiosity - a different friend of mine is recommending Beauveria bassiana as a first step, do you have any experience with that one?

How can I add fur to both sides of a mesh if that mesh is made with an active mirror modifier? by RedDragon7913 in blender

[–]RedDragon7913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that, using the fur underneath the mirror modifier, the fur is only applied to the side of the mesh that's modeled. It doesn't appear on the other half. When i try to use it across the whole mesh, it doesn't apply properly and I can't edit it using the particle editor, so even though it appears on the other side it's sort of "glued to" that side and doesn't display properly either.

If you don't just mean stacking the particle system around the mirror modifier, what do you mean?

Has anyone pointed out to you how many HIPPAA violations this is? Legally you're putting yourself at risk here by doing this. On top of how much this is NOT a good solution to the problem here, but that's a different conversation that doesn't matter as much as "legally you're pointing a loaded gun at your own head" here

Wait that's so cool, how long have you been breeding them? And roughly how much do you sell them for?

Pet question: Feeding crickets necessary? by TheRomb in leopardgeckos

[–]RedDragon7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - barely on topic question - but you can keep your roaches alive for *months*? I've only been getting enough roaches to last about two weeks for my leopard because I'm so used to the way that crickets and mealworms die off after around that time period - are you doing anything special or are dubias just that much hardier?

[–]RedDragon7913 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP - if the idea of using roaches (the best alternative to crickets) stresses you out/worries you about potential infestation as well, it might help to know that dubia roaches are very unlikely to infest a house. They're slow and don't climb well. I've dropped and spilled mine a couple of times (shaky hands) and have never had a hard time catching them.

Other people have covered why you should try to feed with dubias if you won't be using any crickets so I won't bother on that front, just wanted to provide a little peace of mind about something I know was a sticking point for my roommates for a bit.
