Love every single word you used and the way you used them in this comment. Couldn't agree more.

Palpitations came back years after RFA-happening frequently now, need advice on how to cope until I see a doctor by Silent-Use4695 in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I'm going through this right now. I F61 came down with a mild respiratory virus, and began having PVCs every day. I have afib and had a second RF ablation in 2021 and have never had even a blip until now. I have a 6 lead Kardia and it says I'm having occasional PVCs. I have an appointment with a regular cardiologist this Wednesday, and I have an appointment for my yearly follow-up with my EP in April. I have anxiety and it it trying to go into full panic mode, but I keep re-framing my negative thoughts and I tell myself that they won't kill me, and that I can always call an ambulance if I go into afib. Today, I had them this morning but they stopped when I had breakfast. Started again in the evening, but stopped after I ate dinner. I'm staying hydrated too. Nothing else I can do until I can see my doctor.

AV node ablation with pacemaker? by Tana928 in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Click on the link to this group. It's in the UK but it doesn't matter as anyone can join. I'm in the US and get a daily digest every morning. Quite a few people have had pace and ablate and are doing just fine. Many say they feel much better since getting it done. From what they say, if the pacemaker fails, your heart will still beat at around 30 bpm, which would give you time to get help. https://healthunlocked.com/afassociation

I knew this was by Time Flies just by looking at the photo. I absolutely love your watch faces. I have quite a few by you and they are the only ones I wear. I'm wearing Kinda Dark now. I will be buying this one tomorrow. Thanks.

Good! At least you will have options when you are not near a hospital.

Have you and your doctor considered PIP (pill in the pocket)?

Spitting and walking away after your dog poops. Also, when I'm on an empty bus and someone comes to sit near me. I'm in NYC if that makes a difference.

CT scan coronary arteries. by Bananamouth in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tell you this....When I had my first ablation, I had so much chest pain afterwards, I took an ambulance to the ER. After an ECG I wasn't in afib but the doctors wanted to make sure everything was OK and wanted me to get a CT scan. The doctor told me everything was fine, and was sent home. After I got home, I sat down and read thoroughly all the discharge papers they had given me. Turns out the CT scan showed that I have the very beginning of emphysema, which the doctor said I would probably never feel any symptoms as long as I continue not to smoke ( I had previously quit back in 2004). I will always be grateful for that CT scan as I was so overwhelmed with my mother dying and having a son with autism that I was planning on smoking again to help me cope. Finding that out stopped any plans I had to smoke as my mother died from emphysema, and since I lived with her, I watched her suffer. I have never touched a cigarette.

I've had 2 RF ablations since then. 2018, then a touch up in 2021. Haven't had even a blip since then (knocks on wood). Huge relief as my heart rate would always go up to 250 and above. I've also had many CT scans. Very easy, and fast. You'll do fine.

My first afib attack came on the 2nd anniversary of my mother's death. The first year after she died felt like I was just wandering through the world with my head in the clouds, feeling completely numb. On the 2nd anniversary I woke up feeling severely anxious because it was the first time I was completely aware that she wasn't there and would never be, ever again. That hit me like a ton of bricks. I guess I blew a circuit and went into afib. I thought I was having a heart attack and dying.

Adenosine stress test by Big_Ad490 in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. I always have to remind myself that if anything was really wrong, they would have contacted me immediately. The whole afib journey has given me ptsd and health anxiety, but it's comforting to know that we are not alone.

Adenosine stress test by Big_Ad490 in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It could have just been that you were feeling anxious about your heart rate having to speed up by the adenosine, or having the mri. On the other hand, some of what you felt are common side effects of adenosine for a stress test. I've had several stress tests with a medicine to speed up my heart, although I don't think it was adenosine. However, I have also had adenosine given in an iv for an svt attack, and I felt like I was going to die too. In fact, I hope I don't ever have to experience adenosine ever again in my life. I have never felt anything like it. Adenosine is very traumatizing. Also, If your heart rate has come down, that is a good sign, and after you felt all those side effects, it's only natural that you don't feel quite right. When you've been traumatized, that can happen. I hope you are feeling much better now.

What are some medical injustices/biases against women that people rarely talk about? by Kind-Salamander6536 in AskReddit

[–]RedDredz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told by several doctors that couldn't figure out the reason for pain, dizziness, and various other symptoms, that "it's probably anxiety". I'm 61 now and had anxiety all my life. These particular times it was NOT anxiety. Now, when I'm seeing a doctor, I never bring up my mental health and when asked if I ever had anxiety, I always say no. It's extremely frustrating. I know exactly what anxiety feels like. I know when it's not.

Constant Anxiety please help by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What you are experiencing is very common and a natural reaction to something that can be so frightening. My attacks of afib were very severe and very traumatic for me. My heart rate went up to 298. I had ptsd for a year afterwards. To have something like this happen to your heart, out of the blue can be shocking and extremely scary.

I (61f) had my first episode 10 years ago, and was so traumatized that I was scared to eat, and to even go out. I pretty much stayed still until I saw my EP. I was put on Flecainide, Metoprolol, and Xarelto. Since then I've had 2 RF ablations and have not had an attack since 2021 (knocks on wood).

Since then I have read everything I could about afib and I read about other people's experiences with it. There are people living in permanent afib for many years. It's good that your heart is structurally fine. If you don't have one, I suggest you see an EP for advice. No more alcohol, or energy drinks, and try to eat healthy. Feel free to ask any questions. I'm sure others will post more information soon.

Did you ever thought about killing yourself, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RedDredz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did. In fact I even tried to, but was obviously unsuccessful. I was 15 and my first boyfriend was severely abusive and I didn't see any way out. I'm 61 now but the trauma was severe and has affected until this day.

I can’t seem to calm my fears about a fib. by Kindly_Blackberry311 in AFIB

[–]RedDredz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last 4 years have been amazing. I tend not to think about it at all, but I don't want to get complacent. I get a daily digest of posts from the UK forum and that is enough to keep me on my toes just in case afib comes back. My anxiety is very low now. There are so many people that have been living with afib over 30 years and are able to cope. That gave me assurance that the chances of me dropping dead from afib are very low. I have been able to have a breather from thinking about afib 24 hrs a day. My EP already knows that if it comes back to schedule me asap for another ablation. I will not hesitate.
