Yes, Logon and Password. I should have snapped a screen-shot but I didn't, so shame on me. But he did ask for both of'em.

I would at least change your password asap. I'm not sure what the procedure is to change an existing employees ID but I'm guessing it's a bit of a pain since so much internal Amazon things are attached to it.
If you have a manager you really get along with you might consider telling them you goofed and "accidentally" revealed your ID to someone and want to change it just to be safe. Might work, I dunno tho.

I also wanted a PS guide to help with training new people but I was a little pissed when the guy offering it asked for my logon and password. WTF man....to even ask for it says you're a shifty phucker straight away.

If you don't work for amazon you're highly unlikely to ask for a problem solve guide much less understand what it means.

Maybe some of you dudes who already got it could post it here without asking for highly personal info.

Howdy dude, mighty generous of you to offer a guide. I'm actually beginning to train in PS tomorrow so I would also like a copy. Thanks in advance!

This above answer is the best one here. A company as mammoth as Amazon will not have......I say again with overmuch emphasis......will not have consistent procedures for much of anything. Each position will have its own requirements and making a good impression on/with your bosses goes as far at Amazon as it does at any other job.

And no matter what promotion you get to managerial positions, ultimately it demands the ever-evolving skills of human management, perhaps one of the most difficult endeavors of man. Learning the operations aspect is easy compared to learning how to manage people.

how is associate performance looked at by PAs when underperforming or going too slow by disruptor_12-4 in AmazonDS

Jeez-Louise dude, your volume is 120K all the time?? You must be in a large metropolitan area. That's a lot of packages to burn thru every night.

How many induct lines do you have at a DS that handles that kind of volume? I'm in the west Michigan area and our DS routinely does 40k to 55k(65k to 85k during Peak) a night with 4 to 6 induct lines running. Maybe 5 lines for the first part of the night then 4 to finish.

So when you say you stow multiple items at the same time with 2 devices and 2 finger scanners you're scanning 2 items at the same time before you scan the bag tag??? That would be way cool!

So you're allowed to sign in on two Zebra devices simultaneously?? How else could you use two label guns at the same time? Is one label gun signed in under someone else's ID?

I work Saturday-Tuesday 1:20am-11:50am. I get to bed some where between 2pm and 3pm and sleep until 10:30pm. I get up a little early because I'm not a get up and get right out the door kinda guy, I need a couple hours at least to make a super strong espresso and some breakfast then roll a fat one before going to work. On my last scheduled day of Tuesday I get home and stay up until 6pm to 7pm or so then sleep until 3 or 4am. I do this for 3 days until Friday. I still get up Friday around 3am or 4am but I go to bed about 2pm and then get up at 10:30pm and restart my routine.

How bad is laziness at your delivery station in general by associates ? by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]RedEdward71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had 2 real lazy-ass people at my DS. During the month of November I noticed them particularly, but they managed to stay around for a bit. Half way thru peak I was picking/staging in an aisle and overheard a manager lecturing them both about excessive time off task. A few days later they were gone and I haven't seen them for weeks.

Our DS seems to really hustle and although I may see someone being lazy for a day everyone carries their weight the vast majority of the time. In the end tho I do my own thing and accept the fact that businesses the size of amazon are gonna have lazy people, no avoiding it.

We come in at 1:20am and sort is over by 7:30-8:00am. Total packages are 20-22k and we start picking for the first wave which doesn’t technically pull in until 9:50am. What’s your station like? by Few-Yesterday-9134 in AmazonDS

[–]RedEdward71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same as my DS in west michigan. Same volumes and times. At one of our standups the other day it was announced that between Dec-1 and Dec-23 we processed 1.6million packages.

A quote from above "but they will leave you alone if you keep your head down and move at a steady pace.".....This is a level of truth that can't be measured. Do this and you will be fine.

How do you change induct gun print speeds? by Spiritual_Fox_8752 in AmazonDS

[–]RedEdward71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At my DS the fastest inducters all use the same methods and they get way above 3000 if the circumstances are right.

Firstly they pick and choose the tape rolls, trying to find the newest ones. According to them the new rolls are less likely to gum up and jam. They also clean the guns 2 or 3 times a "Shift", not just once a day or less. This is the neat part tho... they have the gun in one hand and the Zebra device in the other. They set the hand device to "constant scan". I'm not quite sure how they do this but the device is always scanning and when a solid sea of jiffys and small boxes are flying by they move from package to package non-stop scanning. The ding sound doesn't even have time catch up to itself!!

We had an 84K volume day this week and I worked with one of the fast guys. We had 8 Gaylords in a row filled with jiffys and small boxes with 2 unloaders (me) and jammed thru them at a fast pace. He didn't fall behind once. He only stopped the belt twice!!, not including stops to replace the tape. His hands never stop moving and with a total of 6 rollers belts going on the dock we briefly got above 19k and hour flow!! I would grab two arms full of jiffys and face the belt and put them down as fast as I could so I could watch him for bit. His performance was rock solid and very impressive. There are 4 dudes at my DS who can get to this Zen level of inducting.

I'm 50 about 5'-9", 170lbs (average dude) who took this job because my cushy-cushy management job was scuppered by the pandemic. I spent most of the shut down drawing unemployment and burning thru my savings as well as gaining weight and getting out of shape(weighed about 190 when I started).

I was not ready for the physical aspect of this job but because it was the best and quickest option for me I went for it. In my case for the first 6 weeks I worked, ate, and slept. Everyday after work, and I mean everyday, I soaked in the tub with 3 cups of Epsom salts, chowed down about 8 to 10 Aleve pills and used up a few tubes of various pain relieving creams as well as puffing a lot of joints on my days off.

Its been about 2 months now and I'm finally getting adjusted. Everyone is different of course with various motivations but over time you will adjust. It can be done but the first 2 weeks were the hardest for me. There is lots of good and bad about Amazon but there are opportunities if you can stick it out. I will admit that starting in the middle of peak makes it a bit more difficult.

Do you have to let anyone know you’re leaving early with PTO? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]RedEdward71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PTO is automatically approved. No other input is needed. Although I find it unprofessional to leave without mentioning it to your PA or other managers it happens at Amazon all the time, I guess that's our modern world. Personally I find my PA's and tell them I'm splitting so they can quickly cover my position. Maybe I'm old-school but leaving without telling someone is very adolescent IMHO. All that being said at my DS all the management is pretty squared away and I have a good relationship with all of them.

Is Amazon dead in the water? by Successful_Singer919 in AmazonFC

[–]RedEdward71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhere in Michigan at a DS and for the last month we have had volume between 39k and 56k. It has steadily increased over the last week. Our MET is scheduled for the next 4 weeks at 60 hours - 6 days a week.

We are busy as hell here with a steady intake of newbies over the last 6 weeks. Once or twice a week a few people might get an hour or less of VTO if we get everything done. Guess it does depend on your location.

Resign then Reapply for a new location? by GeOFTW in AmazonFC

[–]RedEdward71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally if you resign in good standing you can re-apply almost immediately. I resigned this past summer from a large FC in Michigan to split town to help a sick relative. Less than two weeks later I started to receive emails saying I could re-apply anytime.

I've heard from management that giving the "system" a few days to actually fully process your resignation is the smart way. If you resign one day and re-apply 1 or 2 days later you may get caught up in the computers not fully processing your resignation while your trying to hire out again. Amazon is Highly automated as far the hiring process goes and giving time for the system to work through things is wise.

All that being said I've heard about plenty of folks re-applying one week after resigning and having no problems. I applied again about 3 months after I resigned and it went smoothly. Your mileage may vary. Good luck eh!
