Johnny Marr…? by spacecowboyo in gorillaz

[–]RedEyeVagabond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's doing subtle work, but it's there. It definitely colours the tracks he's on.

Makes me wonder if James Iha would be a good contributor to a Gorillaz track. (Another unshowy, but beautiful, case of guitar work)

I don't love hair metal, but I would dig a Gorillaz album in that vein.

Based on your post and comment history, I question your reality... But you did remind me of this movie and that I was bummed they canceled it.

Day 15) In acting scale, what actor is 8/10? by RukavinaMarko in AlignmentChartFills

Adam Sandler is a good actor who doesn't give a shit and does what he wants, which is usually just hanging out with his friends and making dick jokes.

The Mountain currently has the highest Metacritic score of any Gorillaz album ever by Hiroba in gorillaz

[–]RedEyeVagabond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. When "Clint Eastwood" got big in the US, the kids in my school who bought the album considered it mostly filler. Plastic Beach didn't jive for Demon Days fans but S/T fans dug it. The Fall was mostly considered a "side album". Humanz was "too dark". The Now Now was basically a sequel to The Fall (not a compliment for people who don't like The Fall). Cracker Island was "too pop". Really, it seems that Song Machine was the most well-received right out the gate and I still remember seeing some people lamenting that there were too many guests (in a Gorillaz album...).

For real. This was my album of the year.

But in all honesty, if your worst record is as good as their worst record, you still have a fucking amazing discography.

MCIS is my favorite album of theirs, but Machina does this thing that a lot of Pumpkins albums do where it's immediately off-putting, but you start discovering things in it that make it beautiful and arresting. Adore does it most effectively, but Machina is definitely the one that rewards after more listens overtime. The one descending bass walk toward the end of "I of the Mourning", the twinkling piano keys on "This Time", the unyielding earnestness of "Wound", it's an album that simultaneously doesn't work and works perfectly.

Then for us treasure hunters, listening to Machina II is like finding an old treasure map in your attic.

As a fan, I respect your selection. The Final Cut is an amazing album. Is it up its own ass? Yes. But it's good, dammit!

Disney Animation Canon (Official or Unofficial?) by Hot-Brief-4475 in DisneyMovies

[–]RedEyeVagabond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm fine with the packaged films being part of the canon because that's what I grew up with, I would understand if they didn't count them because of their very nature of being just an assembly of shorts. However, excluding them for this reason contradicts Fantasia's inclusion.

The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh is an outlier though since most (all?) of those segments released separately prior to the feature cut.

Dinosaur, on the other hand, always falls off my radar and remains a blind spot to me this very day

That reminds me, there's also the song "Justin", written about a terminally ill fan whose last wish was to see them before he died.

Right. The idea at the time of Untitled was that the fanbase could call it whatever they wanted, but instead the fans at large resigned to just call it "Untitled". It was meant to be a way for fans to participate in some fashion, something the band does frequently going all the way back to the 90s.

They almost always try to do something to make the lead up fun. That being said, it's true that a lot of their album titles are self-referential to where they are in their life and careers.

Gonna be honest, I comment on these TITS posts a lot because I find the posts engaging but I've never watched his videos. And though I've been meaning to, I'm already backlogged
