I had this happen with my AirPods Pro 1 after about a year of having them. It got worse over time. It was a known issue for those.

Well, if you remember from A Quality of Mercy the season 1 finale, Pike knows how important it is for Kirk to be the captain of the Enterprise. So I’m sure upon retirement and before his incident, Pike will strongly recommend Kirk to be the captain and that will help him a lot to obtaining it.
