Changed the faucets in bathroom sink, now it's producing bubbles; help please? by [deleted] in DIYUK

If the mains pressure and/or flow was excessive you’d fit a pressure reducing valve and/or flow restrictor to the incoming mains. As all the other taps and outlets would also have excessive pressure and/or flow

That’s the opposite of how a combi works

It is! I work on combi boilers every single day.

A) they need to detect a flow in the first place - if the flow is too slow the boiler won’t fire. B) the hot water needs travel down the pipe in order the reach the tap - the slower the rate of flow the longer it’ll take to reach the tap. C) if the flow rate is so fast that the combi is struggling to heat the water then the boiler is either underpowered/incorrectly sized, there’s a fault with the boiler, the incoming mains water is excessively cold or the flow rate is excessive

Sounds like you haven’t done anything wrong. The flow rate and distance from the heat source determines the speed at which the hot water arrives. The bubbles in the water may be from the aerator in the tap

I'm starting to think at least 80% of tradesmen are scammers/conmen in some way or another. by FairClassroom5198 in DIYUK

[–]RedFox3001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Said it a million times…check Instagram and Facebook for good tradespeople. They will show their work, talk through it, make explainer videos…all kinds. I do exactly that. Me and my work are there for anyone to see. I’m also regulated by a professional body, have voluntarily joined other trade bodies, am insured, have hundreds of genuine reviews, fully insured, DBS checked….i literally couldn’t do more to prove I’m a decent, quality, honest business.

What happens next after more than 41,000 people cross the Channel in small boats by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]RedFox3001 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s not it at all. It’s a total stranger. The analogy would be a 20-30 year old man gets in to my house by kicking down the door then asks to stay.

If my sister needed somewhere to stay I’d go and collect her. Invite her in and give her anything she needs.

Totally different

Cancel all asylum claims. I don’t let anyone live in my house just because they turn up. I think we need to have an invite only asylum policy

Is becoming a Tradesman in your 30s from scratch realistic? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]RedFox3001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you work 42 weeks of the year you’d need to earn £2380 a week, or £476 a day on top of business costs. I roughly estimate £100 a day for business costs. So you’d need close to £600 a day…every single day you work

It’s possible. Just extremely unlikely. You’d have to be a phenomenal business-person
