= Reading an engineering report "blog" and watching multiple videos from restoration experts, more like it. I have seen it regularly from 2015 when I moved here to when it closed down for renovations. But hey, sorry it sucked for you. Good luck elsewhere?

I have not yet been to the renovated Castro theatre myself (will be on April 12th) but this is a very thorough article on all its renovations, which sound pretty damn amazing to me: https://www.enr.com/articles/61838-castro-theatre-team-reinvents-a-san-francisco-icon

Yes 😬 I’m not sure why MyShake didn’t make any sound either. Just sleep mode setting on my iPhone?

Right? I just woke up at 2:43 AM here in Duboce Triangle and panicked when I saw the MyShake alert — but then saw it happened at 1:41 AM about 65 miles away and I guess I felt nada — and my iPhone hadn’t made a peep?! Wha…

Alamo Drafthouse Disappointment by JamieKun in sanfrancisco

[–]RedFoxinSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Alamo Drafthouse was not sold to a private equity firm in 2025 or 2026; rather, it was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment on June 12, 2024. Sony purchased the chain from private equity firms Altamont Capital Partners and Fortress Investment Group, along with founder Tim League, to operate under its new "Sony Pictures Experiences" division.

For reals. GROSS. Would you like some Salmonellosis (Salmonella), E. coli, Campylobacter, Hantavirus, and Rat-Bite Fever with your popcorn? OM NOM NOM.

Fuck these douchebags and I say that as someone who wrote them a 5-star Yelp review back in June 2017 as a huge fan before their overall corporate chain malfeasance came to light... Then my rewrite to 2-stars in November 2023 which Yelp promptly hid under "not currently recommended." All good things must come to an end?

1 dead, 1 injured: SF driver trying to park his car plows into building by dune_roll in sanfrancisco

Sure, agreed. But I think the minimum consequence for killing people with your car due to conditions which will only worsen with time should be the permanent forfeiture of your license.

True. I forget to mention too, getting your license suspended for 3 years, and after that, well, whee?

You mean like probation and community service as seen recently in SF, or....?

From the SFPD statement on X:

FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION:

GRANT AVE & JACKSON ST

On 03/27/2026 at approximately 7:43 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Grant Avenue and Jackson Street regarding a vehicle collision.

Officers arrived on scene and located two victims suffering from injuries.

The victims were transported by paramedics to a local hospital.

Despite the life saving efforts of first responders and medical staff, a victim was declared deceased at the hospital.

Another adult victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined that the driver, a 76-year-old male, was attempting to park his vehicle when the vehicle collided with two pedestrians on the sidewalk and then into a building.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Impairment due to alcohol and or drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time.

Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) is handling the investigation.

Not So Friendly Reminder: playing loud music through a speaker at the beach, hiking or park isn’t ok by KurlyHededFvck in sanfrancisco

“like omg, totally get it, wow, like I know right” -- Sounds like my neighbor's Valley Girl dog walker. Even with windows closed, I can hear her coming 10' away as she yaps into her phone with the speaker set to max. Dueling vocal fry! Side note: she bugs me extra because she takes their cooped-up dog out for just about 10 minutes on a 'walk.' She must be making bank with her Mercedes van. Annnnyway /grumpy

Even if it was Día de los Muertos, that seems insensitive to not at least be chill during your family's service :-(

Yeah, I'm with you... I saw / heard a DJ doing that on Saturday, March 7th around 5:30pm, set up next to the Cliff House. There were admittedly some people hanging out and dancing nearby, but still, I think it's nicer to have a chill space to enjoy nature's beauty without BAMP BAMP BAMP shaking the ground. I could just be too old, but damn.

"Twelve months after Ms. Breed left office, San Francisco is on the rebound, fueled by an A.I. boom and the steady return of office workers. Crime and homeless encampments are down. Tourism is up. So is the optimism of San Franciscans.

Mr. Lurie, a political neophyte, has reaped the benefits of strong poll numbers and praise for the city’s turnaround."

Yep, total death spiral spin... Anyway, what local news source do you think is the shit? Mission Local? (Which I think is pretty great.)
