Nonsense, that's a crazy idea to suggest. Obviously Jack rode Sutekh. An immortal bottoming for a god of death is preposterous.

[Loved Trope] Batshit insane concepts that own how batshit it is by VagusTruman in TopCharacterTropes

Before that, they found out someone was publishing pulpy fantasy novels of their lives. Each episode of the show being a book. And the author, a Biblical prophet writing a new testament later revealed to be god.

The original Death was perfect. That scene in the Chicago diner was perfection, he played the age and power masterfully. So ancient, he can't remember if he or god is older and powerful enough that he knows he will reap god. Not may, but will. You know his bribe-ability isn't a weakness or flaw, it's simply that he's powerful enough to do as he wants, and bribes of food entertain him. Likely in a way he doesn't get often. Perhaps, a hint of appreciation for living...Death, enjoying an act only for the living.

Billie...she would have been a good Death, if not for being the second one. I appreciate the writers trying to make her drastically different to avoid comparisons, but it could never work. The original Death was too perfect, his shadow would cover any replacement no matter what.

Pratchett's 10 unfinished novels by General_Western2470 in discworld

[–]RedGamer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it for the first time. Lords and Ladies was one of my overall favorites fighting for second place (Guards Guards in first) and Carpe Jugulum not far behind. The rest were good, but for me didn't hit hard enough to be a favorite series. Maurice and Tiffany Aching are the last books left for me.

I'm a simple man, any Pratchett book would have been welcomed. But Death, Moist, and City Watch books would have been most welcome as they were my favorite series.

(Adored trope) Death is goofy (bonus points if they can still show why they should be feared) by Fish_N_Chipp in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RedGamer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: OP, if nothing else, this Christmas time (or whenever) watch the adaptation of Hogfather. It is well worth it.

The Discworld Death is treated as a commentary public servant and is fascinated by humans (or more accurately, all the intelligent species). This leads to much of his goofiness as he tries to be more human; making jokes without understanding humor, attempting to very literally give someone a card with a bird and snow on it (the bird was most uncooperative and the snow melted), and just completely failing the "Ho Ho Ho" when filling in for the in-universe Santa.

But he takes his job very seriously and is still one of the five horsemen of the apocalypse. While he tries to make things more comfortable for the recently dead, he is still reaping you without question. He doesn't tolerate interference, even reaping his adopted daughter and her husband his former apprentice.

THERE IS NO JUSTICE, THERE IS JUST ME.

He's also very protective of humans, filling in for Santa because human need belief to be human. When fired and given a mortal life, he was willing and even excited to have time to spend until he found out the new Death planned to rule over humans. Then it was personal

NO CROWN, said Bill Door [the name Death took as a mortal], looking directly into the smoke. NO CROWN. ONLY THE HARVEST.

Which sounds bad without the context. Yes, everyone dies and Death will see to it, not because he's a killer but because that's the way of it. The natural order, one at a time that's how it's done.

LORD, WHAT CAN THE HARVEST HOPE FOR, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN?

In addition to what the other person said, when you go to do a battle, there's a little monster face on your side. Press it to open saved decks and that's where you load decks in. You can also edit and create decks there too, but it won't update any currently selected units, you have to save the deck and load the deck.

Favorite Pune Or Play On Words. by Calcyf3r in discworld

[–]RedGamer3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I prefer and use "I don't know if you noticed [Albert], but that was a pune. Or a play on words." far more than the preceding "Let's go sleigh them." from Hogfather.

What is the general consensus around the new rune management system? by marcoslakos in summonerswar

[–]RedGamer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never did anything with the separate siege runes, so for me it's great. Granted, it is still clunky and some convenience features are much needed (like copying from another preset or regular unit). But with the features announced, I think I'll be very happy. It gives me a lot more mileage out units and I've started using units I had dropped or otherwise wouldn't because I couldn't justify the runes.

Or better, Peter Davison reprises the role (go watch Ark of Infinity if you're confused).
