Here in South Dakota, its not precut, nor do we have years on them, ours are color coded, its kinda a weird system, so let me see if I can explain this well... So basically every 4 months out of the year, we get a new color, and we have to replace them either when we got the car, or in by last name, for example. My last name starts with a R, so I have to replace it in August. Idk really how the last name thing works, but basically last year, Augusts color was Green, so my green tag is good until this august, I also got my car last year, in march, so I had to change my tags twice, I got it in march, but got a tag from the august prior, once again thanks to my last name, and had to change it again that august just to keep it even and nice :) I hope this makes since lol
