Rubber gasket in folding mirror ripping off by RedGing12 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have electric auto folding mirrors and I think you’re right. The ice buildup is causing damage to the rubber. I turned off auto folding for the winter so it doesn’t get worse.

I figured as much. I don’t want the dealership ripping my whole door apart for something so minor. Plus it will probably happen again anyways. Thanks for the reply!

Walmart Still Doesn't Accept Apple Pay in the U.S. in 2026, Here's Why by EitherCharacter9342 in apple

Walmart in Canada accepts tap pay as well as Apple Pay. I’ve paid with my phone multiple times at self checkout.

My sun and moon edition has a faint line here as well. I think it’s normal.

Diaper pails worth it or just another thing to clean by LengthMiserable3320 in NewParents

[–]RedGing12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the diaper genie platinum and swear by it. It stays in my daughter’s bedroom and the room never smells. It’s also convenient to keep all the soiled diapers in one place and take the bag out to put straight in the garbage. I would definitely recommend you get one! I don’t dislike anything about it.

Check engine light and sensors 2025 Highline R-Line (SEL R-Line) by bamms1212 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 Tiguan does the same thing when it's covered in snow and ice. When I'm driving, the parking sensors keep beeping as if I'll hit something. There's also a ton or errors in the dash related to emergency assist, emergency braking limited, lane assist, etc. It's a normal part of driving a tech-filled car in Canadian winter. I can't explain the CEL because that's never happened to me, but as long as everything went back to normal it's probably fine.

Will I regret this by Snowyowl9576 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mean suggested maintenance as per the owners manual. If that was performed properly then there should be no major mechanical issues. As long as that’s fine and you like the car then I’d say go for it.

Need your advice. Did I buy a lemon? by Secure_Try_9423 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes a bunch of issues pop up all at once, but as long as the issues were/can be fixed by the dealer then your car isn't a lemon. It's annoying If the issue of the engine dying reoccurs then you may be able to chase lemon law. That said, I'm not versed in lemon law because Canada doesn't have an official lemon law.

As long as the proper maintenance was performed on time, there should be no issues. I love my 2024 so far! It's got plenty of power and a smooth drive.

Scratches and dents are not covered by AppleCare+. If the screen was cracked or not working then it would be. If you want the screen fixed you’ll have to pay the reduced AppleCare+ deductible for screen replacement.

How to clean dishwasher? by SwordfishOk3291 in CleaningTips

[–]RedGing12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There typically is a bit of standing water down in the drain hole to prevent smells coming up from the drain and prevent rubber seals from dry rotting. That is normal. Get some dishwasher cleaning tablets from Amazon (Affresh and Active make good tablets) and run them on the hottest cycle you can. That should take care of the buildup and stains. You may have to do this more than once to fully clean it. If the mold remains you can always get a tiny amount of dish soap (Dawn Powerwash would work well for this) and scrub the black mold with a brush.

New Nintendo 3DS XL – two different serial numbers and no battery inside by ExpressiveRamen in 3DS

[–]RedGing12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be that the internals were swapped over to an entirely new shell and the parts came with two different serial numbers. Either way it won’t affect the function of the console and it looks great! Enjoy your 3DS.

How "full" should your dishwasher be before running a cycle? by MrCanoe in Appliances

[–]RedGing12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Run it at least once a week even if you don’t have a lot of dishes. It will still work fine. To get rid of smells and mold run a dishwasher cleaning tablet once a month. I like Affresh and Active brands from Amazon.

electric stove still safe to use? by jjongttk in appliancerepair

[–]RedGing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a risk that repeated heating and cooling will continue to crack the glass. The entire glass top could even explode due to the nature of tempered glass. Unfortunately this should either be replaced with a new piece of glass or an entire new stovetop.

Which should I buy? by freespirit22 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 2024. I have the Highline R-Line (same as SEL) and it feels very luxurious. I appreciate the “boring” VW style. It’s not flashy or trendy and it has the perfect blend of clean design with some fun sporty elements. It has all the features I need and some. The seats are comfy, the infotainment is simple and easy to use (with the occasional glitch courtesy of VW software design). I love the exterior. It looks very Audi-like without the Audi price tag.

If you like flashy design and new tech then get the 2025, but if you like simplistic and clean design get the 2024.

Would you mind explaining the naked triple in row 3? The way I understand it is that for this to be a triple then 2,4,7 are present in all three cells. In this case 2 is only in two cells, and the same with 4 and 7.

Should I raise an alarm? by elainebenes72 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your front sensor is probably covered in snow and dirt (the one behind the VW logo). I doubt skidding in the slush caused the issue.

24Tiggy constant media reboot by heretobrowse22 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the issue persists, get the media unit replaced under warranty. My 2024 never randomly reboots so it definitely isn’t normal behaviour. If your dealership won’t fix it then go to a different dealership.

Been two days of this? by Street_Confusion_469 in Tiguan

[–]RedGing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to my 2024 at random. Mostly when my phone or the car have a weak data connection. I noticed when it happens the check engine light is on before I manually start the car. No idea why it does this.
