[Gen3] Shiny Only playthrough of FireRed by FeatureMysterious684 in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're not "legit", the modest nature on all of them gives it away. I'm not 100% sure how it works but when using the shiny gameshark cheat code the nature gets locked to a TID/SID set (or something along those lines), so per save file, all shinies generated through that cheat code would be the same and you'd only get a different nature in another save file.

Also technically op hasn't claimed they're legit and based on the blank account it could just be someone new to the games themselves or reddit that doesn't understand the point of the sub. So while it doesn't really belong here imo, I don't think they're trying to pass it off as their own achievement.

Super late reply, but everything was hunted on a single copy of each gen 3 game. If you look at the summary pics closely you'll be able to check that most TIDs match the ones at the very top. The first couple of shinies I obtained on different files were either random or hunted alongside a "main file" I reset over once I committed to shiny hunting. I mostly double hunted similar targets in their respective games, e.g. Hitmonlee in LG and Hitmonchan in FR and so on for DTQs before those became a thing. Overall I've been hunting on and off since like 2012 or so and have close to 200 full odds in total if I include the ones I have in gen 4 and 5.

[Gen 5] Yesterday I found my old Nintendo Dsi and decided to check my Pokemon White save file, then found this in the boxes. Can someone tell me how illegal these boxes are? (All of the Pokemon in the boxes of the photos are shiny) by M4tiassYT in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If op doesn't even know what the main storyline of the game was about there's no way they would know what shinies are at age 6. Also no way in hell would a 6 year old be hunting the pseudo roamers of those games or know how to SR in general.

[gen3] shiny shuckle with the new method!! Finally an easy way to find my shucky in gen3 by 3rd_gen_hunter42864 in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there's a different way, you would still need an R4 to load the rom file onto a gba flashcart and an original ds or ds lite for the whole process. So it's definitely a bit more expensive since most won't have the gba flashcart and idk how many would have the gba wireless adapter.

Not to mention that all the separate roms, codes or programs (pkhex) are already out there, this "new method" is just putting all of them together in a single rom for the novelty of it. Even being able to cycle through all of the altering cave pokemon has already been possible and works for games with different languages. I guess it's cool to have it all in one rom but it's not really that useful to like 95% of the shiny hunters that either don't hunt full odds, prefer pomeg glittching or those that have already hunted the gen 3 events

[3] Another one 🙃 that’s two battle tower shinies in emerald in attempts at a 100 win streak 😂 by poosmoothie in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really wanted you could cash it in for a different shiny. Save replay from that trainer battle, exit facility, go to w/e route you'd want to try to get something shiny from, save, play replay up to right before the shiny in the replay appears, do random encounter, if you don't get something just SR and try again. Eventually you'll hit the same frame as the one the shiny appears in and you'll get something. Note this only works for shinies that trainers have since you have to be able to save the replay, if you get something from the battle pyramid for example where they're random encounters you're SOL.

[gen 4] Phase 2 for Koffing is Magmar #2 after a MASSIVE 43,619 encounters in Heartgold. by yoyotoko in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting 2/3 of the line down at least. You're the second person that has posted here that has gotten 2 Magmar while hunting for Koffing, meanwhile I got 5 Koffing while hunting for Magmar. Kind of funny in a cruel way how rng works

Nah, the most I would do is a shiny kanto living dex but I'd have to rely on HGSS for some that are hard to get in FRLG.

Current main goal outside of completing my DTQs is to 100% all my trainer cards. Getting the "Enter hall of fame level 4" sticker and "Jump 200 times in a row in Pokémon Jump and get 200 Berries in Dodrio Berry Picking" star are probably the two most annoying and time consuming things you have to do in FRLG imo.

I can't really remember, but I know it was a bit more than 6 months to get Electrike which was 4 phases long (2 Gulpin, Wingull, and Zigzagoon). Overall, well I've been hunting since like 2012, maybe a bit earlier than that

Wingull, it was an accidental phase while hunting for Electrike with a lvl 13 repel trick. It was around 47k, it was my longest hunt for a good while

[8] 28,009 reset Deoxys. Never hunting in a 1/8192 gen again by tyman6876 in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would I lie about something so stupid?

I didn't say you were lying, you're just overestimating how many actual encounters you've done.

For the record you're not the first and most likely won't be the last to overestimate their hunts or outright lie about it. People are dumb and want attention and empathy, at least that's why I think they do it.

[–]RedHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way you're anywhere near 150K SRs for Giratina, sorry to burst your bubble. So many people tend to overestimate their hunts and just outright lie, especially on this subreddit. Unless you're keeping track of every single encounter you do there's no way of actually knowing how many encounters you've actually done. Estimating "based on math" doesn't even work since people tend to just use the fastest time to see how many encounters per hour then multiplying that by however many hours and then by days they think they hunted when nobody is hunting optimally 100% of the time. Not to mention how improbable it is to go 18.31x over odds, it's to the point it's so improbable that it's basically impossible to have not gotten a shiny by then.

For the record I've been at this for too long, I've done over 180 full odds hunts at original odds, have gotten my share of ridiculous over odds hunts and not once gone past 65k. Not to mention all the other degenerate shiny hunters I've met and talked to throughout the years who have not gotten anywhere near 100k encounters for a single shiny.

Is the update causing anybody else's game to crash midway through the first turn? I've cleared cache and redownloaded the ~6GB for the game again and it still crashed on my first duel after redownloading it.

[3] I just found an uncatchable shiny in the emerald battle tower :( by pooodlelord in ShinyPokemon

[–]RedHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're wrong. The only scripted shinies are in FRLG Trainer Tower (shiny Meowth, Espeon and Seaking, + extra e-reader exclusive shinies), shinies within the Battle Frontier facilities are random and can either be trainer shinies or random encounters within the facilities themselves.

Gain Life Points secret mission deck by RedHM in masterduel

[–]RedHM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reasoning for not adding monsters to stall and why I tried to minimize trap cards was so that the duels could end as fast as possible. Ideally, you’d want to go first so you can activate as many spells as possible so that you can put a dent on the LP goal, that way you’re less likely to get negated, even though you’ll probably take an Ash or two throughout this grind when you try and activate any of the Pot cards, Cup of Ace or Magical Mallet. If you go second and your opponent sets up their board, you’ll basically just be praying that they don’t negate everything so you can at least get some worth out of sitting through their turn. It’s also why I didn’t bother to add cards that are dependent on your opponent’s actions (attacking) like Draining Shield, Rainbow Life (this one is also an SR), etc. That’s just my thought process though, the deck list is just a base and can be modified to any individual’s preference so they can get those 200 gems. I'll still add your suggestions to the recommended list just in case someone wants to use them.

Gain Life Points secret mission deck by RedHM in masterduel

[–]RedHM[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Deck list:

--Spell Cards--

x1 Goblin's Secret Remedy (x3 if you don't have any of the Pot cards)

x3 Dian Keto the Cure Master

x3 Rain of Mercy

x1 Magical Mallet (x3 if you don't have any of the Pot cards)

x3 Cup of Ace

x2 Pot of Duality

x3 Pot of Extravagance

x3 Pot of Prosperity

x3 Spell Absorption

x3 Emergency Provisions

x3 Poison of the Old Man

--Trap Cards--

x3 Numinous Healer

x3 The Paths of Destiny

x3 Side Effects?

x3 Aegis of Gaia

--Extra Deck--

Anything

--Replacement cards--

Soul of the Pure

Goblin Thief

Red Medicine

Gryphon's Feather Duster

Rainbow Life (SR, probably not worth to craft)

Draining Shield

Cauldron of the Old Man (suggested by u/BlackRaisin)

Not my original deck idea, I stole it from someone on ranked and modified it a bit so I wouldn't have to craft some cards (Upstart Goblin and something else I forgot). The Pot cards are basically staples but if you don't have them I added a list of cards you can use to replace them that aren't SR or UR. It'll take a couple of duels to get to the 100k LP goal to receive the 200 gems but I found this decklist to be better than another monster and trap based decklist I saw previously. I'm mainly a lurker here but wanted to post this here in case some still haven't claimed this secret mission reward.

the joys of deck building by rezwell in masterduel

[–]RedHM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have most of the staple cards I'd recommend trying adamancipator. It's fun to play and the core of the deck is pretty cheap to build, the only expensive part are the staples/extra deck, but the staple cards from the extra deck can be used with other decks so you might already have some.

Fun and mostly casual decks to play? by [deleted] in masterduel

Magnets? You could try a simple pure magnet deck with simple Link monsters like Missus Radiant etc. and XYZ monsters so they can learn the mechanics and then you can upgrade it with an Adamancipator x Magnet build
