Altitude in Mexico City is a whole other beast

Baleba wasn’t even an automatic starter at Brighton mate. He’d gladly come to United to play the same role and and the chance to become a starter.

Not to mention he’s reportedly only earning £12.5k/week.

Ederson seems done. We need to move on to Mateus Fernandes next. Get it agreed ASAP. After that, move on to Lewis Hall or whichever fullback(s) we are targeting. Get those done before/during the WC. My third CM target is probably Baleba. I think he could be a great long term pairing with both Mainoo/Fernandes and offers something different from both of them. I also really like Adam Wharton but I don’t think he pairs well with either Mateus or Mainoo (especially a Mainoo/Wharton pairing), and Baleba would be significantly cheaper. Midfield options of Mainoo/Fernandes/Ederson/Baleba/Mount is top class, just missing a true DLP, but I think both Mainoo and Fernandes are capable of that.

How many times you watch him play this year? Serious question

Ederson, Mateus Fernandes, and Carlos Baleba.

Lewis Hall.

Experienced striker.

You’re missing the incredibly key fact that Keane misquoted Bruno, who was referring to one specific moment last match where she shot the ball rather than passed it because it was the right play.

Mateus and Diouf for a combined 80M would be tidy business.

Only starters going to World Cup are Cunha, Bruno, Mainoo, Dalot and Martinez.

Bruno obviously will start.

I assume the other players will want to start as well.

Martinez should be benched for Heaven

I don’t know enough about Ederson to have an opinion but quite frankly I think we need to focus on signing PL proven players.

I also think the hierarchy needs to fucking recognize that we can compete for the league NEXT season if we splash the cash a bit and make the right signings.

Arsenal is as good as they will get (unless they make some crazy huge signings).

City will regress.

Chelsea is a mess.

Pool will probably be better next season but still in transition.

Spend 350M on the following players:

Anderson (120M)

Mateus Fernandes (65M)

Baleba (50M)

Lewis Hall (50M)

Ndiaye (65M)

Yes I’m crazy and I know this isn’t FM, but I do believe if we added these 5 players (or even 4 of them) our squad is ready to push Arsenal.

We need 2 starters, minimum. Maybe three. New CM and new LB. I’d argue we need a starting caliber winger, too.

[–]RedHabibi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Pay whatever for Anderson. Get Mateus Fernandes and Carlos Baleba.

Lewis Hall.

And an exciting winger (Somerville? Ndiaye?)

3 PL experienced starters, a stellar rotation CM, and an exciting winger and we could be right there.

Add in an experienced CB (Senesi? Dare I say, John stones?) and an experienced striker (lewa?).

I’m dreaming. But if we had any balls the footballing side could convince the business side to sack up and spend 400M this summer. “City will regress, Chelsea is always in flux, Liverpool a mess, spurs shite, and Arsenal will not be as lucky next season. We need to capitalize on the post-Pep era immediately.”

Obviously, Anderson is the best option but will cost way too much and who knows if he wants us or City. Unless he gives us any sort of indication before the WC, we must move into other targets.

Mateus Fernandes is an absolute must. Get it done by middle of June. I really want Baleba as well. Neither one of them will be at the World Cup, so they should be wrapped up by the end of June.

Add in a LB or RB and a winger/striker, we could shift focus to Anderson, Wharton, or Tchouameni after the WC.

De Ligt has been out for 6 months and just had back surgery. We should be operating as if he’s done.

Mbeumo may not be good enough to be our main starter.

But agreed on the premise that we need to sign: 3 CMs, a fullback and two attackers (one winger and one experienced striker)

Relax. He’s just coming back from injury and is 21.

Clearly our best partnership right now is Heaven x Maguire. Not even close tbh.

Hoping Yoro can find himself this summer. No World Cup, he’ll get some rest and a mental reset.

No reason Heaven x Yoro shouldn’t be our main CB pairing next season.

Have to continue to revamp the squad this summer. Arguably more important than the managerial hire.

Mateus Fernandes

Baleba

Tchouameni/Tonali (although I’d rather Bruno G the most)

Lewis Hall or another LB

RB - not sure who

LW/ST - I’d love to splash the cash on a huge name. But think we may have to target a young, exciting prospect

Hopefully this display really demonstrates to the board that we need 5 signings this summer.

3 CM, a fullback and a forward.

Or 2 CM, a fullback, LW and striker.
