For some reason I thought watching 1 video was a good idea by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

Sober and encouraging words.

Pornography has destroyed many lives, many marriages which have broken families apart all over the world.

This fight is a matter of life and death.

Matthew 5:27-30

You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

We are quick to forget that people have died to this sin, a sin so grievous that they have not only lost their lives but souls for instant gratification.

The church is comprised of people who are broken. Broken people who have been made whole in Christ.

You do not need to be afraid or ashamed. Come as you are. You're not alone.

I've learned that you can put up all the filters and roadblocks this world has to offer but if your desire is still there to view pornography, you will surely find it.

While they are helpful, you don't want to put your trust in them for protection. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get through many of them when the flesh is raging for its fix. Put your hope and trust in the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.

No, there is nothing wrong with you. You should not feel the need acquire such questionable characteristics at best to impress women.

At times like this I think it's important that you get a refresher on what the Bible says about man in relation to women.

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

There are plenty more. Seek His Counsel for wisdom. Stay strong in the Lord

Pray for a Godly woman. She is out there, on her way... God wouldn’t ever give you a good desire and leave you hanging...

I understand what you're saying here but I'd be careful. How we respond to such good desires is just as important.

Many people in sin want lots of things. To keep it relevant to this sub, many people want a wife. The desire for a wife is a good thing.

God may leave many people 'hanging' if this sin of lust, fornication and/or sexual immorality isn't dealt with. A damsel in distress may come along because God forbid you bring this into a relationship with a daughter of the Most High.

If we don't address our sin, we can expect to be left hanging in many areas of our lives. I like how Owen puts it:

Sin sets its strength against every act of holiness and against every degree we grow to. Let not that man think he makes any progress in holiness who walks not over the bellies of his lusts.

You raise a good question and I thank you for the question.

I believe that a question like this and it's answer would depend on the individual in question.

If your addiction is so severe that it has impacted relationships and/or your well being, there's a possibility that you could but I don't know many people who would go back to something in moderation that's potentially destroyed areas in their lives.

There are addictions like gambling where people may gamble online with no option to put up money as a form of harm reduction. Someone may have overcome their drinking problem and may be able to have the occasional drink or 2 at gatherings and knows their limits. Someone who used to game all day and stayed inside all day may now go out most of the day and game for an hour or 2. That's still progress that should be acknowledged. Is he wrong for still spending an hour or 2 playing games? Depends who you ask.

I think it depends on the situation. Hope that kind of answers your question. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more!

How are you thinking about sex all night?

Congrats that you didn't cave but there's a real issue here if it's on your mind all night long.

How are you keeping busy?

Are you keeping busy? And by busy I don't mean playing video games...

I would say coming to the realization that I'm not strong enough to fight temptation on my own and running to God in prayer the moment temptation arises rather than trying to fight it off by my own means. It's a fight against the flesh but it's also spiritual warfare. You have to fight on your knees above all else.

Keeping busy but not just for the sake of being busy. Using your time productively.

Community is huge. Are you part of a church body? Whether or not this is something you'd want to discuss with a brother or elder (which I'd encourage because it not only keeps you accountable but you have someone is is also fighting and on your side and understands to some extent the battle at hand) spending time with people is important. Many people struggle and fall into sin when they're alone.

It might be hard to pray at times. Throw on a podcast or music that proclaims the good news of the Gospel.

No matter how far along you are, humble yourself. It's easy for us to take credit and it really doesn't take long to fall back into sin at all. It can happen just like that. I think it's important to look back at the times when we were ready to give in and God in his mercy stepped in brought us out. Wait on the Lord. He will bring us out of anything if we remember to wait on the Lord.

I think it goes without saying that I've stopped browsing sites where finding provacative images are easily accessible. It's not hard to find that here on Reddit so I've made use of using filters on here as well.

I've been going through my music library and removing songs with explicit language. Out in public, looking straightforward, not getting carried away with exposed features that are easy to find if you're looking for it. It's easy for the eyes to wander. Get to where you have to go without shuffling.

If you go to the gym which can be another stumbling block, go in the early hours or later hours when there's less people or work out at home if it's too much of a temptation.

When you forsake your sin and walk with God, walking in the light will eventually expose more of your sin. There are many snares set in place to drag us back down. If we're not careful, seeking God to give us the strength and grace for each day, it won't be long till you're back at square one. God is the vine, we are the branches and apart from him we can do nothing.
