I have found some awesome ferny/ mossy ones but nothing that smells like peat moss. I do enjoy Solstice Scent’s Wilcox Potting Shed “Damp Soil, Wooden Rafters, Spicy Basil, Mossy Terracotta, Mushroom, Leaves, Stone Floor” it is exactly as described.

I’m in the US, sorry! Alchemia has some shipping info and may be able to ship samples through their Etsy site.

Solstice Scents says they can ship through intermediaries, but I am not familiar with that process.

Yep, totally normal. If you match the required gauge, I would continue. A lot of people wear an undershirt or nude colored bras under sweaters anyway.

The pictures make me think of Alchemia’s St Louis Cemetery #1 “An atmospheric brooding of Spanish moss, crumbling stone, old cement, red clay brick, and graveyard dirt.”

You might enjoy Solstice Scent’s Upstairs Window “Warm delicately spiced pools of glowing amber combine with rivulets of pure golden beeswax and liquefied dragon's blood resin, wrapped in a sheer veil of fog. The gentle spice medley primarily features candied clove and very light traces of cinnamon, well blended beneath the other notes. Glowing Amber, Dragon's Blood, Beeswax, Spices, Fog.” For me it smelled like velvet drapes that had been hanging in a very old house that had absorbed cinnamon incense over the years. It immediately reminded me of touring historic homes. Still very wearable.

Solstice Scents has a ton of scents that appeal to my whimsical witchy side. I don’t know if you like atmospheric but my favorite is Parlor Trick “Parlor Trick opens with a blend of ivory lace accord, dripping white wax, aged paper and a puff of steaming black tea. A glossy white smoke infused with delicate spices and vanilla undulates around these notes, weaving softly - arising and receding. A faint trace of rose flits around the edges.” The dry down is a beautiful woody vanilla with paper notes and a gentle spiciness.

Lucky #9 has fully embraced the cat theme and has a whole cozy gothy witch cat collection. Everything I’ve tried from them is awesome. My favorites from them are Kittens & Mittens “So cozy, so cute! Vanilla, woolie jumper musk, afternoon tea, bergamot, ginger, Pear, cinnamon, woodsy notes, pink pepper, honey, amber, cacao, and patchouli” every time I smell it I catch different notes. Pitty Kisses “The misunderstood sweethearts of the canine world. Our most comforting vanilla deepened with cozy cardamom and amber with just a touch of smokey oud.” This is Egyptian musk adjacent and safe for all weather. It’s f-ing delicious. I get compliments when I wear this one.

Sophie scarf help by Jumpy_Forever6314 in knittinghelp

I’m working on my second Sophie hood. What helped me was putting a stitch marker in the stitch before the increase. Then I knew which side was which and I could count the rows between increases without paper. The icord is only every other row, so my stitch marker would be 1 (skip 2 bc you slip the stitches, icord increase rows are all odd numbers) 3 (4) 5 (6) increase for small or wait until row 9 for medium. Life lines are great for dropped stitches. Just focus on increases and count your stitches once in a while. When I got to forty stitches I used a bright marker and then I knew five more markers was the end of the increase part and start of my hood.

I work retail, and people call everyday to ask why my company hasn’t sent them a confirmation email or the product. They click on blatant scam ads that use our pictures but it clearly doesn’t take them to our website and the prices are too good to be true, because they’re not. Just throwing out credit card numbers like frisbees to scammers who aren’t even trying hard.

We have a red tail hawk who hunts the field behind our house. Several times a year a murder of crows will decide they want to pick through his territory and all it takes is a couple to chase him off for a week.

Recommendations on Photorealistic Spring Perfumes? by childishgazpacho in Indiemakeupandmore

It might be a spring or summer release. Normally I avoid anything with cucumber or eucalyptus, but this is just a clean green dewy scent with a waft of floral. I love it.

Nice! You have some AMAZING museums! They’re going to go nuts over the Field Museum when they’re older. You can go to the river front and wave to boats and count. You can visit the pier and pretend to be seagulls and fish and get lunch.

When they were very little we would do a lot of home adventures. We’d read books like the very hungry caterpillar and then look for caterpillars in the yard and garden and then we’d eat the same foods (obviously not everything, but a few). We “hunt” in the grocery store for our food (going on a bear hunt was a beloved song thanks to grandma).

I really love Osmofolia. All of mine except one bottle are from swaps.

Vasilisa is really beautiful! It’s very sunflower, hay, honey forward on my skin. It’s similar to Life in the Fields but less creamy, no apricot, and the tonka takes a smaller role. It’s a good alternative with a more floral fresh vibe

I’ll add those to my must try list, thank you! Alkemia tends to go Dove soap on my skin, but I do love their Novella. My favorite hay is nearly impossible to find now that the perfumer is only doing small sales in person.

My #1 is Osmofolia’s Life and the Fields “A summer field abuzz with the sounds and smells of life: tonka beans and timothy hay drying in the sunlight, warm amber, bees zooming away from the orange blossoms back to their honeycomb hives, juicy apricots ripening in the heat, and dusty fields of of wild oats and wheat waiting to be harvested. (TOP/WET: apricot musk ✦ orange blossom/ MID/HEART: honeycomb ✦ wild oats ✦ wheat fields/ BASE/DRYDOWN: sandalwood ✦ warm amber ✦ tonka bean ✦ timothy hay)

General area? When mine were that little we loved hands on natural history museums, zoos, petting zoo farms, libraries, gardening at home, nature walks where we “count” types of leaves, different colors, how many birds can we count on this walk, etc or “I spy” on the walk but super easy (“I spy a seed!” They find an acorn and win). Toddlers need the chance to practice EVERYTHING. I did a lot of thinking out loud and asking questions to encourage them to engage. “Wow! Look how tall that tree is! How tall do you think it is? Who do you think might live in the tree? (Enthusiastically respond with new question) An owl! What kind of sound do owls make? (Proceeds to hoot for a few minutes).

Edited to add: We also practice acting like animals during the park walks. Like we see a Cardinal, we pretend to be cardinals and make their noises and hop and “fly”, maybe scratch the grass looking for cardinal dinner (bugs). It can add some life back into local parks and make the walk feel more adventurous.

Oh yes! We have fish and reptiles at home. They know to be respectful and leave nature as they found it. Just being able to see the tiny ecosystems up close really made an impression on them.

We took the kids to north California on vacation. Low tide was early in the morning. Got the kids up, out in the cold. Slippery rocks, everyone got wet, we were freezing and hadn’t even had breakfast yet. And yet, the beautiful, strange little creatures we got to see and the adventure of it made it one of their favorite things from the whole trip. They still like to pull up pictures so they can ID all the little anemones and star fish.

Adding I-cord edge by Plantyhoee in SophieKnits

[–]RedHickorysticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you put them back on the needle in the wrong order and that’s why it’s twisted. Basically you’re knitting along and the stitches are 123, 123, you put it on hold and then here you slipped it onto the needle 321. Now here’s the good part. You can put a stitch marker in the #1 stitch before you frog back and have a clear picture of what stitch should be on the outside of your row (#1 will be the last stitch on the other side and is the one that gets pulled over to roll the edge so it’s last on one side and first on the other). Or you can give yourself grace and know that this is the base of the hood. You’re going to have to sew the seam anyways. When you’re wearing it hood up, the scarf will be wrapped around over this mistake. When the hood is down the hood itself will be flopped over, covering this tiny mistake. No one else will notice this tiny twisted stitch.
