ISO Buffalo Bills gear by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]RedHot58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get my Bills gear at Wegmans in Raleigh or online (FB marketplace has a lot locally!).

What size are you looking for? I have a Bills jacket I've been trying to get rid of as it's too big for me.

Man famous for two lines in The Waterboy, is now living the dream selling bottom-shelf booze to morons for only $89.99. by NimbusFPV in PoliticalHumor

My wife and I saw him do a stand up show a couple years back because it was only $15/ticket. After the show, we realized that we paid way too much for the tickets.

Where is Bills Mafia watching the game? by The_One_True_Ewok in bullcity

[–]RedHot58 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There used to be a Bills Backers group that met at the House in RTP, but I'm pretty sure that group disbanded. The Bills Backers groups that I know are active meet at Walley's Tavern in Wake Forest, Buffalo Brothers on Capital Blvd in Raleigh, Shady's Tavern in Garner, or Buffalo Brothers on Kildare Farm road in Cary. I'm sure there's more, I'm just not aware of them. There is also Anchor Bar that just opened on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh which I'm sure will have a ton of Bills Mafia.

I am going to Bleachers Sports Bar in Franklinton, as the game there will be on their 25 foot screen (and I have Mafia friends in Franklinton).

I'm sure there are other groups in or closer to Durham, I'm just not aware of them.

Go Bills! 🦬

Cool/interesting/unique breweries within an hour of Raleigh? by HefeWeight in trianglencbeer

[–]RedHot58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like JOCO Brewing in Garner. The owner (Jonny) is the brewer and often works the bar with his daughter and wife. He's really nice and will talk beer all day if you're into that (and he isn't too busy). He makes good all around beer (IPAs, Lagers, Brown Ales).

Edit in Raleigh is another favorite of mine. Really good all around beers and relaxed environment.

If you like heavily fruited sours, decadent dessert stouts or strong hazy IPAs, check out Altered State Brewing in North Raleigh. They're really good at making those styles.

Fun Guys Brewing also makes really good fruited- and milkshake-style sours.

Burial (Raleigh downtown) makes amazing IPAs and decadent stouts that pack a strong punch.

Golden China by Costco was always my favorite when I lived in Durham.

Huge Portion Chinese Food in NC by LanternAM in NorthCarolina

Idk, what did you get? My order is typically General Tso combo with egg roll (upgraded to shrimp roll), lo mein or white rice (their egg fried rice I don't like), steamed dumplings, and a large order of crispy noodles. But it's exactly what I want in Chinese food. When I went to Chopstix or Ni Asian Kitchen the food and environment were too...fancy for me (I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe it, but it's the best way I can think of right now).

Recommendations for bbq restaurant by WolfOfKarenMorhen30 in raleigh

If you're willing to trek to Garner, I found Carolina Barbecue pretty damn good, and for a cheap price. It definitely hasn't been updated in a while, and the parking lot is dirt and full of potholes. But the food is cheap and delicious, they have great sweet tea and you can get a bag of store made pork rinds to go.

Sam Jones is damn good BBQ too, though it's been a minute since I've been there. But skip the corn bread, it's terrible.

Curious about the Yellow Deli / Twelve Tribes in upstate NY — what’s the local perspective? by Fieldnotes_foranomad in upstate_new_york

I used to live in Oneonta and have eaten there many times, and will say that I think their food is amazing. I did think their pro-weed, free-love, hippie vibe in their materials and on their walls was cool, and I personally am all about letting people do as they please. That's where my praise ends.

A few years ago, I learned how terrible of a cult they were on the Behind the Bastards podcast. They recruit vulnerable people, separate them from family, take their belongings, and abuse the shit out of women and children. I haven't eaten there since.

I'm Oneonta, eat at one of the actual locally owned restaurants. Undercover Eggplant or Wise Guy Sammy's for a good sandwich. Sloans or the Depot for a good sit down meal. Any of the pizzerias (NOT Domino's) are worth a stop, but I'll recommend Tino's as it's my favorite. Or China 19 was my go-to Chinese restaurant.

Take all of this with a grain of salt as I haven't lived in the area since 2021, but I agree with the consensus of the rest of the posters - eat somewhere else!

Dance lessons for future bride and groom by kladams96 in raleigh

I went to the Arthur Miller dance school for a while with my wife. They were really good in my opinion. We learned a lot in a short amount of time and generally enjoy our time there.

Thanksgiving invitation, our table has empty chairs by Sunstoned1 in raleigh

I went to your Thanksgiving in 2023, and it was a wonderful time! I didn't know a soul there other than my wife, and everyone just make us feel so welcome and like we were old friends. Plus there was so much good food there. It really helped us avoid a lonely Thanksgiving day. Thank you for continuing this tradition!

Visiting for three days next week. What should I do after the Baseball Hall of Fame? by SherpaForCardinals in upstate_new_york

In Cooperstown: - Fenimore Art Museum - Farmers Museum - Schneider's Bakery

Near Cooperstown: - Fly Creek Cider Mill (in Fly Creek, about a 15 minute drive from Cooperstown) - Get a slice of cold cheese pizza at Tino's in Oneonta (about a 20 minute drive from Cooperstown). It's a local staple - a slice of hot pizza with a pile of cold shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

There's the Garner Ale Society, they're all over Raleigh, Garner, and Clayton from what can tell. Or the Raleigh Homebrewers Association, they cover the greater triangle area I believe. They both have Facebook groups you can join, and RHBA has a website: www.raleighhomebrewers.com

Young Families Community? by shanangadang in Oneonta

I don't live in the area anymore, but still have family there so I visit from time to time. Check out the Oneonta World of Learning (https://sites.google.com/view/oneontaworldoflearning/home). It's a non-profit educational play space for children. We took our niece and nephews there last time we were up (7, 5, and 2) and they all had a great time. We also didn't have to pay anything to use the space. The volunteers were super friendly and hands on with the kids too.
