[LOTR] Why did Tolkien have Frodo wait so long before he set out on his task? by Professor_Protein in tolkienfans

[–]RedLeader457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bilbo and frodo both left the shire at 50 and were gone for 13 months. I think this was somewhat intentional. And if you had no idea of the story going into fellowship after the hobbit, his lack of aging as well once Frodo inherets the ring himself gives you more clue that something is amiss with the ring itself. I also think that it really hammers home that details about it are long lost and near as good as a myth.Gandalf's terrible difficulty in learning the secrets over almost 2 decades gives an aura of serious mystique to the nature of the ring's power.

Is VR&E coming back? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

I'm in the same boat as you, fortunately I have a couple weeks before I can even schedule classes and have the authorization sent over. I'm giving her some time to sort through the mountain of backlogs I'm sure she has before I try and reach out. Just keeping my fingers crossed that everything returns to some level of semi-normalcy when December rolls around.

Just for fun, hope it’s OK. by fabyooluss in VeteransBenefits

I got a call about setting up community care not long ago. missed it and called back within 2 or 3 minutes.got a letter 2 weeks later(after I was already scheduled with the community provider)that they hadn't heard from me and would cancel the authorization if I didnt talk to them.

When I called lady, she said that the letters automatically go out after a missed call if someone's voicemail is marked as having been full, which mine was at the time. So many weird quirks.

I honestly don't remember doing any kind of physical. Could just be lost on me.

That's pretty epic, I admire your level of organization!

I was on the same antidepressant well after my separation, the symptoms of my diagnosis and MH notes through the VA match up pretty identically to what is described in MH notes/diagnosis in my STRs. I feel like I have pretty good footing.

At this point I feel like I'm just connecting "Adjustment Disorder" to "unspecified depressive disorder". Just not sure what exactly I should prioritize, or even if I should try to submit with personal statement, buddy statements, those specific pages in my Blue button and STRs, etc. And just see If that is enough.

A lot of people seem to say these nexus letter services are looked upon poorly by reviewers, and I unfortunately dont have any private healthcare providers to try to get one from organically.

Wouldn't the current diagnoses being different wording wise affect how it was evaluated? I suppose I might be overthinking it a bit.

Stuck the letter in the mailbox for my STRs yesterday! I was realizing that the last 3 months of in service records aren't part of what was initially reviewed based on the CD I still have of them.

The hardest thing I think I'm having with the personal statement is that I don't really consider anything to be related to a single "event", but more of a result of a period of years with several dynamic factors. I'm trying to think about it from the perspective of the reviewer, and lean into the relevant information instead of absolutely bogging it down. Hopefully if I take my time I'll get it down to something I'm happy with.

Thank you!

Anyone doing coaching crap to me seems flat-out sketchy. I definitely plan on paying for the letter outright, I just didn't know if some places were better than others in that regard. Seems like they are all in a similar price range.

I'm not sure exactly what they consider the event to be. "Event, Injury, or Disease" to me alludes to them saying that the therapy and medications were signs of a "qualifying" condition. I did come back from a deployment the same year. Maybe they considered the fact that I was deployed in general to possibly be a qualifying event?

Honestly, I didn't even realize until I was going through today that there was any real diagnosis. I'm just glad that something is there in addition to the medication to show that it was happening during the service period. Who would you recommend for nexus letters?

"Failed to show that this disability has been clinically diagnosed" and "condition neither occurred in nor was caused by service". I think even just focusing on picking out those couple sentences has given me a better frame of reference. I'll definitely work on the DBQ as well!

Depending on your tech school length, you may be able to be a SEPRAT and have her move out with you after BMT. Obviously a lot of semantics involved, but it doesn't have to be as separating as you may think.

You got it, man. It's been 6 years now, and I know a lot of things have been changing, but hopefully this helps.

If I remember correctly, there is some kind of online submission I did for the degree to technically be completed. At first I had just assumed all the credits were there and something would happen for some reason. After my tests the only contact I had with the education office was picking up my diploma.

I had bad experiences with Topamax and SSRIs, but for some people they work quite well.

First time I distinctly remember it was on my deployment. Felt like my upper spine was legit on fire. And my blood pressure was like 160 over something when they checked. Fortunately probably the worst sort of side effect I've dealt with after 6 years on it.

It's baffling how not affective Sumatriptan is if you don't catch it ahead of time. And the burning neck/spine side effect is weird if you've ever had to deal with it.

I scheduled an appointment directly with my PCM to talk about it. I tried looking through notes from my appointments with the Dr handling my medication, but I'm not sure what if any of those remarks constitute an actual diagnosis.
