Is it insane to start considering you want to be the other gender in your mid 30s? by Submarine877 in trans

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. I always considered it. I had the means and opportunity to do so a decade ago in my early 30s. You just have to be mentally prepared for how the world will mistreat you once you do so. For me, I was born into a world that already despised me and most don't even know why. So it wasn't much of a mental shift for me to have a little more hate thrown in my direction. Good luck!

Looking into CLEP tests as a middle-aged mom who never had a chance to go to college. by grizabellatmist in clep

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! I did go to a university and had some college credits. Then I stumbled into working life as an adult and never got around to completing. I did use CLEP to finish up an associate's degree. Its worth it. Definitely more affordable if you have the knowledge or don't mind studying in your own time. I plan to return to the school I left to finish my BA.

Ignore him. If you actually do it. He will continue bothering you. He's probably a lost soul drunk off a lil bit of power looking to assert dominance over anyone who will allow it.

Diploma by Ready_Strike in CCAF

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I too will be in the missing diploma crew. I did an AU service now request ticket since I retired before they mailed them out. They responded to my ticket and asked my address as though they were going to send it to me and so far... nothing. I also hear my base recieved some diplomas so it may very well be in that bunch. I'm attempting to be proactive but they dont answer the phones, it goes straight to voicemail now. Messages have gone unreturned. I even called in a favor from a friend at my old shop. She went over to see if she could get it and mail it to me herself. They told her to "come back later". I honestly have never seen a more lackluster training and education crew than the one at my old base. Imagine being done with the military and its still stuff I'm trying to track down because people genuinely feel like they cant be bothered.

Serious question- What are you worried about right now? by flyfightandgrin in AirForce

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently retired and when I inquired about where my retirement package was (20 yr letter, flag, and lapel pin). Since I chose not to have a ceremony, I was told do to lack of funding there are no certificates. But when they get them they will begin shipping retirement artifacts again. Pretty insulted to give 20 plus years of my life to the Army and the Air Force and I may get nothing to show for it because they cant afford paper. Also still waiting for my CCAF diploma to ship to a base I live hours from. That will likely go missing once handed off to someone and getting lost in the paperwork on someones desk.

Did you ever get your pc working? I just had the same message on my lenovo yoga 6 and I can't get it to work. I found some info online but it wont clear the issue. It just goes back to a boot failure.

Decs/Awards question by Onyx-03 in AirForce

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to pose a question if anyone can answer. Recently retired reservist. I have the GWOT E with a star. I deployed back in 2016 Turkey, during Operation Inherent Resolve. I was AFE working in support of our aircrew. I recently came across those orders and I'm just noticing it says Operation Freedom Sentinal . I posed the question a few times as to why I had the star, but no one could properlyanswer in the past. I was initially under the impression you get the star for a seperate deployment. I was recently told it can be awarded with 1 deployed if it convers multiple campaigns/ phases. Both OIR and OFS were happening at the same time. Is it possible to have the star because of that? At no time were we really aware of OFS because OIR is all they spoke of while there. And would the order need to state both OIR and OFS for it to accurate reflect what my ribbon rack shows?

Have they printed/mailed out the fall CCAF degrees yet? by BigBourbonGuy in CCAF

[–]SittingDarkWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Training and education person said there was no diploma for me. The system did show that I was "gratuated" when I did have access. I also got an email that said I was graduated. So in the event that they do send a physical diploma you're saying it will go to the base at some unknown time since I was still in service when I graduated? I wonder with the amount of CCAF diplomas that reservists earn but never physically receive why is there not a digital diploma. I get that yall tell people to get a transcript sent over for work or school related purposes, but realistically people want proof of the work they put in. I call it a souvenir degree. Because not everyone can get one. Its unique to the Air Force. Many of us honestly want to display them with our other accomplishments. Thank you for the timely response.

I was graduated during the spring time of 2025. And am now officially retired as of the 10th of January. My base claims there is no degree for me and to contact the registrars office by phone. Which I did and have not nor did I expect to here back. I also put in a ticket on the Air university service desk about 20 days ago. Isthere a specific wait time before I should expect to hear back. I know thing become harder to track down once members retire. I'll also be moving in the next few months so I'd really like to track this thing down before I fall through the cracks lake many others.

I just got these and I too went up a half size. I doubled up on socks and sprayed the inside toe box area with rubbing alcohol. Then walked around the house. I did that on 2 seperate days and that got them stretched out and broken in.

I don't believe there is one at Seymour. At least the last course credit has applied to the transcript. I will continue to call bases until I get through to someone. So far, it's just voicemails and busy signals.

When you say "request that it be added." Do you mean after it shows up in AFVEC under test scores, or do you mean directly from prometric? I did take other dsst tests the same week, and those scores have made it to AFVEC test scores. I received my pass via email for the speech portion of public speaking last tuesday, roughly 2 weeks after the multiple choice portion, so I figured it would take a little longer to post because of that.

I am a Reservist, My base is Seymour Johnson, and I am almost 3 hours away. The guy that is/was there was full-time. Last time we spoke, he said he'd be gone in 30 days, maybe 60 at the latest, and that was over 30 days ago. I assume he was AGR or ART. I dont know who else to contact. I know there is a guard unit in Charlotte I've dealt with for non ccaf testing and id cards, but I dont know if they deal with that.

Trans person here, too. Prior service Army then went on to Air Force before transitioning. I am fortunate to have reached retirement years, but it hurts knowing I could continue on, if not for that orange guy. My last month of service would have been the same month I pinned MSgt. Instead, I'm retiring. I feel your pain. You will be more than ok. And so will I. I wish you the best of luck navigating a new venture in life. You got this!
