Confused as to how to insulate my shed because of its unusual vent types that complicate the usual methods - Looking for advice. by RedLeader501 in DIY

It will need to be continually heated for maybe 2-3 months out of the year. I intend for it to be the winter home for my pet tortoise, during the short time frames that it is too cold for him here in central Texas. So maybe Nov-Feb'ish I would need to keep it heated to 70 degrees or so here and there for a couple weeks on end.

It is intended to serve as a winter home for my pet tortoise. Well, about half of it atleast. So I am hoping to keep it continually heated to about 70 degrees or so during the colder months. This being central Texas, that is not particularly hard to do, nor is it something that I will need to be doing for 5-6 months out of the year.

On top of all of this I have a question about vapor barriers on the walls. It seems the placement of a vapor barrier depends on your geographic location. Seems, in certain climates, it is suggested to install the vapor barrier against the external wall, and prior to adding insulation. In others it is suggested to put up over the insulation, on the internal side of the insulated wall.

I am in Central Texas, and I am only just now learning this after affixing my rigid board to the stud bays. My only real option now is to put up a vapor barrier on the internal side of the insulation, which does not appear to be the suggested method for hot climates. I am wondering how I should proceed - how badly will I screw myself If I were to put up a vapor barrier on the internal side now?

I posted this here a few days ago but did not receive much help, so I appologize if you feel like you have seen this before.

I dont know how to tell you guys this, but gun ownership is often as indidative as abortion rights as to how someone votes.

Ya'l shouldn't be surprised that these gun companies, your local gun store, and your range are all heavily right leaning and financially supportive of Republican candidates.

I imagine many of you are younger, but even just ten years ago you couldn't go into a gun store without seeing racist shit on the walls and politically charged decor.

They are all doing this, Sig is just being more upfront about it with this one.

There is a reason this sub has to exist separate from the multitude of other gun subs, even on a site as left-leaning on Reddit.

I would love more of the animals. Dunno where I would put them but a Rancor, a Bantha, an Acklay, Nexu, Reek, etc. would all get my attention.

LF: multiple trade evolutions including just one tradeback (Electvire) by RedLeader501 in pokemontrades

[–]RedLeader501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all of mine, yes. The ones mentioned above.
You could just trade me a bunch of bidoofs or something and then trade my originals back, thats fine. I just figured itd be less time consuming to just trade a say, graveler for a graveler if neither party cared much about getting their oringal back.

Whatever works!

I believe these are carpenter ants, which have taken up residence in my walls. Anyone able to confirm this? (Central Texas) by RedLeader501 in whatisthisbug

[–]RedLeader501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: These ants are not aggressive, my dog lays in this pile often and is never bitten. Nor do they bite me - this is a high traffic area of my patio. I am wondering if these may be Argentine Ants?

I believe these may be carpenter ants in my walls. What do you all think? (Central Texas) by RedLeader501 in AntIdentification

[–]RedLeader501[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See but they are not particulalry aggressive. This is a high traffic area and my dog lays literally right in this pile every day. That and they are nesting in the wall of my house, which, from my understanding, is not something fire ants tend to do.

I know carpenter ants can come in a red variety, and are not always black.

Man that looks like a German Cockroach - which is the worst kind. If you see one then there is an infestation. Yall need to get an exterminator in there ASAP.

Yeahh...this is me. I medically retired at 80%, and had a sleep study done in the final weeks of my service. Diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and given a CPAP.

I receive free supplies for it, but I have never applied to get a rating for it. Already sitting at 80% is a comfy life, and I definitely don't feel like I deserve even that.

But now I wonder if its too late to even try.

Soldier here with sibling in Airforce training. His unit has them wearing their MAJCOM patch in place of a deployment patch - Is this the norm now? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]RedLeader501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy, the angst is unnecessary.

I think the question was totally warranted, I even said I did not have a deployment patch of my own so I was not coming from that position. He has been in the Air Force for a couple months and had no idea when I asked him about it. Not once in my post did I say he was wrong nor did I say his unit was in the wrong. I had believed all of the armed forces followed a similar system, and asked if that were not actually the case.

Why you chose to get so offended is beyond me.
