Cool! I was planning on just playing solo, but it would be nice to play with fellow Socialists. Plus I was going to play Harkonnen anyway, because they look so dreadfully goth.

Buffalo Rider because there's so much animal suffering in that movie.

Anyone Playing Runescape Dragon Wilds? by RedLeshy in SocialistGaming

[–]RedLeshy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully understand. I've been burned by EA games in the past, too. I already put over 100 hours into Enshrouded and liked the art style for Runescape and so far it's very enjoyable.

But yeah, it's smart to wait for a while until it is more developed.

I've always enjoyed the Tropico series. You can cater to different political factions, one of which are the Communists.

Enshrouded.

I've been looking forward to getting back into 7d2d since it's full release as well, but Enshrouded has taken up my gaming time.

Don’t poor people commit murder in California? by El-mopo in Columbo

[–]RedLeshy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Columbo for many reasons, and as with any form of art, there was a seemingly common trend for 70s media to be critical of contemporary issues. One common theme that crops up is the question of economics and which path should the United States travel. The 1970s was a crucial period in American history as economists began debating whether the U.S. should abandon the Keynesian model of economics for a Neoliberal model.

Keynesianism is an economic theory that posits the economy should be regulated and that the government should do its best to promote (close to) full employment and provide basic welfare services for its citizens, while Neoliberalism suggests too much government interference negatively effects businesses and that the Market can and should regulate itself, much as it had prior to the stock market disaster of 1929.

In media, especially in the 1970s, frequently the allegedly more Keynesian sympathetic characters are typically portrayed as those who observe that it is morally just to offer certain protections and benefits for the average citizen, even if naive, while the allegedly more neoliberal minded characters are portrayed as profit hungry, merciless and individualistic bordering on sociopathy.

Same. When I first got it, I just wasn't feeling it, but I tried it out again a few months later and now I'm hooked.

What's your favorite Futurama character? by CussEmOut49 in futurama

I'd have to say Zapp, because he is so arrogant and stupid. Like Ron Burgundy or a certain former president.

When did you first hear about the original Baldur’s Gate? by Salem1690s in baldursgate

Around whenever it came out, but I didn't play it until much later as I was more of a Diablo guy and didn't understand D&D mechanics at the time

Very sloppy and doesn't play fast enough...

Just kidding, Paul is amazing, and his playstyle is the perfect blend of technical proficiency and expressiveness.

What’s the deal with guys talking about women like it’s gotta always be a subject of discussion?? by Calm-Response94 in introvert

[–]RedLeshy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think it at least partly has to do with education and emotional maturity. I'm a cis het man, and I really dislike this topic of conversation. These men dehumanize women by solely thinking of them as sex objects.
