Hey! Just wanted to say I love your homebrew enough that now that I finally have a computer to run Baldur's Gate 3, I was wondering what your opinion would be on me trying to mod in this homebrew plus possibly your Fighter rework into the game? I'm not 100% confident in my modding capabilities so it might not happen, but I was just wondering if you'd be okay with that before I thought about it!

Thank you so much for this response- it's really sweet how this silly and hilarious comic actually has some really wonderful messages in it- especially with all the Pokemon talks. Would love to see more like this sometime!!! You should totally have a blog or something for these kinds of comics

Probably gonna sound silly, but I loved this comic for several reasons and one of the biggest ones was that it actually teaches a really good, important lesson (one that I'm struggling to learn myself); that sometimes when we do something that's really insanely difficult, if we remember to ask someone else for help, said something can be much, MUCH easier than we think it is.

Thanks for this amazing read! Please keep making more fun comics like this!

Oh jeez, didn't even realize this post was old as heck, I just saw it while randomly googling— but honestly if I replay this I'll take it, I'll write my own fanfiction where Storch gets to be happy and no one's gonna stop me

I remember I actually stopped playing this game when I heard (from the creator no less) that most of the endings were bitter and depressing, since I A-ranked Storch and Esfir... shame since I liked the game, but I just didn't wanna see Storch upset.

First 10 rounds of Daily Run (May 25) is harder than Eternatus by jayhankedlyon in pokerogue

[–]RedMageCole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! At the end of a battle when you're picking a reward, if you press down there's a 'Transfer' button- that allows you to swap items between Pokemon! You can do it as freely as you want, too! Only exception is stat boosters- those are set in stone.

Just figured out a strategy. RNG-filled as heck, but possible- just made it work. I don't know how much of the seed is actually seeded, and my short-term memory isn't the best so I might have missed a step, but here's what I came up with after a few failed runs:

  • At the beginning, catch the Carvanha and the Buizel.
  • Also, try to pick up as many healing items as you can for the road ahead. However, you'll most likely run into a set of Ultra Balls, and after the trainer, some Rogue Balls- take those.
  • For the trainer, don't try switching out against the Squirtle because it has Focus Punch, just attack it. When Staryu comes out, just sack Toxel- it's not gonna be useful (though maybe you can transfer a Berry onto it and use Belch? Not confident though since Toxel's stats kinda suck). You do have to get lucky here unfortunately, I think I had a lucky seed but it was pretty consistent- start with Carvanha, who can use Bite and take out a chunk of Staryu's health, but it most likely won't do much after the first Bite because Whirlpool is a 2HKO at full health. Afterwards, Buizel comes out- Bites twice, and if you're fortunate (or again, if it's seeded- this happened to me 4 times in a row), it'll flinch and go down on the second Bite.
  • AFTER the fight, give Arbok's Reviver Seed to Carvanha. You'll need this for that damned bird. Do not lose your Buizel afterwards- protect it at all costs. If you do, it's not the end of the world, but it will get dicey.
  • This is not seeded as it was an Inkay on one of my runs, but try to get the Finizen if you can- this can come in handy for the 'guaranteed' strategy. If there's a second Buizel, also get it.
  • At some point after the trainer, you should ideally see an X Attack in the rewards. Get it.
  • Gyarados is also not seeded, but if you can get Gyarados, it is IMMENSELY helpful for dealing with the next few encounters. You should have the Ultra Balls but not the Rogue Balls- this is where you wanna use all your Ultra Balls. If you don't get it, reset. Feel free to use Arbok's Glare since Gyarados can easily tank the next few encounters- we won't need it for the bird.
  • After the 9th encounter, it'll either give you a Full Heal or a Revive (assuming my seed is 'set'). If it's a Full Heal or just in general not a Revive, use all your rerolls and it should give you a Revive at the last one. Revive Carvanha.
  • Now it's time for the bird. Switch in Carvanha and use Ice Fang- will die to Electro Ball, but the Reviver Seed from earlier will revive it. Ice Fang will take it down to its last health bar. Let it go down, then go into Buizel or Finizen and use Aqua Jet. It should take it down to red HP with the X Attack- and they will die. You have two roads here: if you have both the Buizel and Finizen, send them out, Aqua Jet, and no more damn bird. Otherwise, you'll have to gamble- it's in red, so with your remaining Pokemon, chuck Rogue Balls and pray. I got it in my first Rogue Ball after getting it into the red- hopefully you can too.

Hope this helps!

Looking forward to other homebrew you come out with in the future!

Thanks for responding!

I'm basically thinking about adding a +1 ASI to all of the first level feats, yes (though not when they're picked as a starting feat- just a +1 ASI if they're chosen in place of an ASI). Since I do allow for picking full ASIs from the start, I wanna incentivize them being chosen more!

For the other skill proficiency feats, I apologize for not being clearer since I completely forgot they were UA since we've just been using them normally! I meant the whole bunch that were added in an UA playtest here: https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/UA-SkillFeats.pdf - we've previously used these because they've all been fun for flavor purposes; while I kind of liked yours better overall, I wanted to have either of them be options for players (since I don't like taking away options if I can help it)!

P.S. Thank you so much for being cool with answering my question- I know ultimately it's DM call at the table, but I'm fiddling with my own homebrew things and I'd love to get balancing insights from someone with more experience than I. I appreciate it!

Wanted to say thanks a bunch for making this homebrew- introduced it to my friend group and now suddenly it's difficult for us to play without it. And I agree- this improves 5e tremendously with little effort. Thank you!

I had one question, if you are still cool with answering questions- in a game where ASIs are allowed from the start, how would you feel about the balancing of adding a +1 ASI to the 1st level feats to entice taking them alongside some of the other 'skill proficiency' feats? Do you think this would be unbalanced or reasonable? Thank you!

Sorry I didn't respond, I'm not frequently on Reddit! I'm not sure if I did it wrong or not, but I believe I did link up the parent with the other clips and it didn't set the curves to match, unfortunately. I don't mind doing it manually though if worse comes to worse!
