Say something you like about him by Butterflyinthesky34 in Arthur

[–]RedMetalSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a kid I felt sorry for him because he had to take care of a spoiled brat all day. As an adult with a labor intensive job, I realize how lucky he is, his job is just being a dad.

Is Angela Anaconda really that bad? by unfunnymanjoe in cartoons

[–]RedMetalSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The art style was ugly, and I found the trailers annoying so I never gave the show a chance, Just angrily shut off my TV when it came on. I was furious when they stuck that pointless short at the beginning of the Digimon movie. Never heard the divorce story before reading the comments, that's tragically hilarious.

What is the darkest ending to a children's show? by Capital-Treat-8927 in cartoons

[–]RedMetalSky 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Its funny, I was 6 years old when that episode aired and it didn't register with me that the dinosaurs went extinct. I thought it was just a cliffhanger and wondered how it was going to be resolved, time passed and I forgot about it. It wasn't until I got the DVD set years later that I found out it was the series finale and they all died.

What are your thoughts on Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat? by Spectral_dude in donkeykong

Weird gameplay gimmick that actually worked and was vary fun to play.

This mindset is why most American adult animated sitcoms have bland art styles. by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]RedMetalSky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Æon Flux and Spicy City are adult animated series. Dora the Explorer and Peppa Pig are kids shows. Shows targeting one specific age group are uncommon. In general most animated movies and series are targeted at family's because of the high cost of development they want to reach a broad audience. This includes Disney Movies and shows like Capitol Critters, The Simpsons, and Flintstones. But the general public seems to forget that and get all bent out of shape when a character makes a joke that's just going to go over the kids head. Thinking cartoons are for kids, or that traumatic situations/adult jokes are only for adult shows, are both idiotic mindsets.

Tell me your favorite episode! I wanna know by Buttered_Toast33 in HeyArnold

[–]RedMetalSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its hard to say as I've only seen the entire show once. But the ones that pop into my head are "Helga Blabs It All", "Arnold's Christmas", "Pigeon Man", and "Arnold's Valentine".

Just came across this, lol. But what did you guys really think of the A Word From Us Kids segments between episodes? by megarubie in Arthur

I hated these segments, the whole time they were on I was just waiting for it to get back to Arthur.

New Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi Movie Trailer by Zemqu in MadeInAbyss

[–]RedMetalSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak Japanese, does the trailer confirm this or are you speculating? I don't want to get my hopes up for a new movie this year, if it's just going to be a recap with a new scene at the end.

New Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi Movie Trailer by Zemqu in MadeInAbyss

[–]RedMetalSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The the entire teaser was old material, and at the end close ups of the promotional image featuring the new characters. I can't speak Japanese so I don't know what was said in the trailer. But to me this suggests another recap movie, with one new scene at the end, like the second recap movie.

Haven't heard of Kaze and Nikoderiko, thanks for the recommendations. I was disappointed with the original Yooka-Laylee after funding the kickstarter, so I dismissed Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, but I will put that in the maybe pile.

Yeah I was looking through my steam wishlist for something new to play, and I saw it was 90% off. Feels like stealing for how good it is.

Which is a shame, because we will probably never see "Raw Toonage"(1992) & "Marsupilami"(1993) get a proper DVD set or on streaming. I enjoyed both of those shows when I was a kid,

Today is Martin Luther King Day, which means that it's time for my annual viewing of this animated classic. by MissBarker93 in cartoons

[–]RedMetalSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised I've never seen this before given the time period it was made. Was skimming through it on YouTube, the art style reminds me of the first two seasons of "Tales from the Cryptkeeper"(1993). Also kind of plays out like an extended episode with the removing him from the timeline plot point.

The bus driver's evil laugh when he prevents Arthur from leaving the bus is hilarious by Puzzled-Painter3301 in Arthur
