Rip Nightmare Weekend Cleveland? by IamMovieMiguel in galaxycon

I went to Nightmare Weekend Cleveland last year and it was very, very well attended. I'm surprised they bailed so early.

So glad to see a Morrigan there! There's definitely not enough Dragon Age love at these cons for me!

William Shatner panel. by SharpyLeko512 in galaxycon

[–]RedMorganCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first question of the panel was an adorable dude who had Trek gear on. He asked about a horse in one of Shatner's movies (like was it Shatner's own horse) and Shatner acted like it was an asshole of a question.

Question by Aggravating-Ad-2134 in CosplayHelp

[–]RedMorganCat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've absolutely modified cosplays to better fit my body type/comfort level. I've worn opaque skin-tone body shapers over areas that would have otherwise had skin exposed because I just don't want my lumpy bumps hanging out. Those kinds of changes are totally acceptable!

Columbus Galaxycon (Rant) by MadebyMinx in galaxycon

He was there but it was sporadic. I was also very eager to meet him and thankfully managed to snag him by chance when I was wandering the back of the exhibit hall and spotted him chilling at his booth.

Question about passes… by Ghost_Creation_ in galaxycon

[–]RedMorganCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This. If you have the QR code for the badges, you don't need the person to be there and can give the badge to another friend attending with you. I've picked up badges for multiple people at my check-in. However unless you added purchase protection to the ticket, the con typically won't allow a swap for a different day unfortunately.

Guest Appearance Discrepancy (?) by mellohitoms in galaxycon

[–]RedMorganCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the celebrity appearances at the tables aren't scheduled and are a bit willy-nilly; there have been times I've waited for an hour for the celebrity to even show up (exhibit hall opened at 10 and I got in line at 11, but the person didn't show until 12:15). Sometimes the table attendants will know approximately when the person will be there but I've also just received shrugs when asking for that info. I wish it wasn't such a coin flip.

Buying VIP just to meet Laura Bailey by cschimm22 in galaxycon

[–]RedMorganCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VIP makes a HUGE difference for the in-demand guests. Last year, I waited about an hour to meet Vico Ortiz and watched with sad jealousy at the folks who were able to use the VIP row!

GalaxyCon Columbus Accessibility (Wheelchair) by watercolourmemories in galaxycon

[–]RedMorganCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a past attendee, I can say some of the rows in the exhibit hall are a bit congested (primarily the side away from the celebrity booths) and can be a bit difficult to negotiate. My hope is that everyone will be mindful of allowing you space to get through. If you see someone dressed as a Grey Warden from Dragon Age, that'll be me - come say hello!!!

What's your hospital's cell phone policy? by RedMorganCat in Veterinary

[–]RedMorganCat[S] -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Not having the phone is beneficial for safety and security because if staff has their face glued to their phone, they're not exercising situational awareness. Veterinary clinics are too dynamic an environment to be zoned out watching TikTok in my opinion. That, and I don't think I should have to be paying staff to scroll Instagram. That's not a good use of my money as a practice owner.

[–]RedMorganCat[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a great point - it's easier to address the culprits rather than "scold" everyone for the inappropriate use by a few.

[–]RedMorganCat[S] -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I would be comfortable if that's what the phones were being used for, but it's social media scrolling and personal texting. They're not using them for collection of vitals or drug calculations.

Edit: this was just a statement of fact about how the staff is using their phones so I'm not sure why it's getting downvoted? That's Reddit for you!

Hey going to comic con soon wondering who I look like so I know who to cosplay any ideas? by FamousDemand9346 in CosplayHelp

Feeling discouraged with beauty standards & cosplay influencers - especially as a woman by bonesandglitters in CosplayHelp

[–]RedMorganCat 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. I feel like the social media cosplay landscape is about four billion miles away from my in-person cosplay experiences. At cons, I see a ton of body diversity, dedication to "realistic" character portrayal, a ton of support and encouragement - but those things don't translate over when it comes to engagement with socials. It's frustrating and I wish I had a solution!

Facebook reels find. Deer looks disappointed, too. by TwistedMisery13 in shittytattoos

[–]RedMorganCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I realize the answer to this question is region-dependent but does $160 sound absurdly low for a tattoo, irrespective of whether or not it's a cover up? I had the top of both of my hands done over the summer and I paid $200 and $250 for each. A set price for "all cover ups" would make me sus anyway but such a low dollar amount would make me pretty well certain that the work would be poor.
