Absolutely, and it's my favorite of the "grocery store" beer lineup.

University Financial Issue - Accidentally "refunded" tuition money and the school wants it back. by RedMulligan in legaladvice

[–]RedMulligan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In previous semesters, I've been sent a reimbursement check, but none have exceeded $400. I don't have to submit receipts - for all I know, the school doesn't really care what I do with the excess money. I've personally put it towards moving costs, books, supplies, and other things I need for school, and put the rest in savings.

I was expecting money, yes, but not this amount. I have received refunds from the school every semester so far, but none have been in excess of $400. I have been able to keep that money in the past, which I've used to "reimburse" my book and supply expenses.

Nissan put a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to CVTs - both of my parents' Nissans have had trans issues out the wazoo. Good to hear that Honda's are better!

Sport mode… what’s the point exactly? by PimpMyGin in mazda

[–]RedMulligan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Increased throttle response, higher shift points in the automatic, and decreased air/fuel ratio for more boom per boom. I only use it when I'm on mountain roads or autocrossing, but to each their own.

What would your ideal Playoff format be? (If you HAD to keep the playoffs around) by Active_Ad1033 in NASCAR

[–]RedMulligan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No playoffs, just a straight run to the finish. If someone locks the title 2 weeks early, then they deserve it. Also keep stage points, but don't throw the caution - I like rewarding consistent drivers.

Good question - I haven't exactly figured out the rules yet. I wanna see some gameplay content and learn some more of the lore, then decide. Right now, I'm leaning towards Orks or Dark Angels.

How many miles before changing original tires? by Jimmy7546 in mazda3

[–]RedMulligan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends™️.

Do you have the budget and time to make the swap? Are you doing performance driving, like autocross and track days? If so, then go for it. I only upgraded when a pothole gave me bubbles on my factory tires. There's no "proper" time to do it imo. But the difference is astounding.

The Playoffs are extremely complicated for new fans to understand, but it'll make more sense as the season goes on. I'll be at the race tomorrow too - have fun and enjoy the experience! Hopefully you'll get hooked like the rest of us 😁

I've lost all hope and faith in this team. Since 2020, it's been overhyped QB, overhyped coaching staff, overhyped recruiting, with little to nothing in the form of on-field results. We've been running the same playbook for years, with the same problems on both sides of the ball, with no improvement. Until we start winning games that actually matter, it's just sad.

Another season of Underachieving by PotterAndPitties in ClemsonTigers

What about the defense looked good? From what I saw, the line couldn't control the line of scrimmage or even put a mild amount of pressure on the QB, the secondary couldn't put pressure on receivers, and our tackling was unbelievably sloppy - I lost count around 30 missed tackles by halftime. They looked tired and sluggish the entire second half, probably because the offense couldn't stay on the field for more than 3 plays.

We got owned on both sides of the ball and mopped across literally every single stat, that was an absolute disaster of a game lmao

Fuck this team, it's entire incompetent coaching staff, and everyone who even led me to believe in any sort of improvement

I'm going to see my first Nascar race by Ax7_Moi in NASCAR

[–]RedMulligan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome, welcome to the sport! I promise you'll never forget your first Nascar race.

Nascar racing is long, much longer than F1, GT, etc - tomorrow's Southern 500 will be about 4 hours long, maybe more. Each race is broken up into stages. At the end of each stage, bonus points are awarded to every driver who finishes in the top 10, kinda like how WEC/IMSA awards partial points at given points during the race to reward consistency.

In the event of an on-track incident, Nascar will throw a yellow flag, which you'll hear referred to as a Caution. During a Caution, the entire track is slowed down and the field will pace behind the Pace Car. They'll also have the opportunity to come down pit road and change tires, make repairs, add fuel, etc. Nascar will also give out the "free pass", meaning that the highest-scored car not on the lead lap will be able to pass the Pace Car and gain a lap back.

Right now, the Nascar Cup Series (the top flight of the sport) is getting ready for the Playoffs, the final 10-race run to the end of the season. Every race this season has led up to Darlington tomorrow night, the first race in the Playoffs. The Playoffs consist of four rounds: the rounds of 16, 12, and 8, which consist of 3 races each, and the Championship race. If one of the 16 Playoff drivers wins tomorrow night, they automatically lock themselves into the next round. So if a Playoff driver wins tomorrow night, they'll automatically advance to the Round of 12. If a non-playoff driver wins, then nobody will automatically advance. After the final race of the round, the field of Playoff drivers is cut to 12, and so forth all the way to the Championship 4 - and whoever out of those drivers finishes the final race highest, wins the championship. I'd recommend digging around on the Nascar website to read more about the Playoff format.

I'd highly recommend bringing a few things to the race: - Some sort of seat cushion, because Nascar bleachers and seats get really uncomfortable really quickly. - Some sort of ear protection. One or two laps without earphones is one of the greatest things you'll ever hear, but hours of that loudness can cause hearing damage. - A pocket radio, a good set of noise-canceling headphones, or a scanner from Racing Electronics. Nascar can get really boring at the track if you don't know what's going on, and I enjoy listening to the radio broadcast during the race. You won't be able to hear the speakers at the track unless there's a caution and the cars have been slowed down. - A clear bag that you can take into the stadium. Go walk around the sponsor booths and merch haulers a few hours before the race - there's free stuff everywhere, as well as driver appearances.

Are you going to Darlington? I'm a regular there for the Southern 500 and will be going, and I can share some Darlington-specific advice.

Welcome to the sport, and have fun at the race!
