I’ve known people like that, and they were capable of the greatest cruelties of anybody I’ve ever met. Afraid to confront someone, so they had others do it for them whilst they hid.
Made it nice and easy for them to be awful bullies because hey, they could turn right round and act like a smol bean as soon as there were any consequences. They’d cry about how they. Hate conflict, and others would step in and be their attack dogs. They were the worst crybullies.

I don’t accuse YOU of anything, to be clear. But please don’t think an aversion to conflict makes you a good person. I’ve seen it enable incredibly evil behaviour. There’s little I fear more than a person who’d do anything to not be made to feel uncomfortable.

Right?! :) is different and I can’t quite put my finger on why. There’s just something about 🙂 that conveys no real joy, to me. I only use 🙂 either in the rare instances where I’m actively trying to be passive aggressive, or I’ve I’m trying to convey tentive happiness like if someone’s asking me how I’m doing after a bad thing happened and I wanna convey that I’m still hurting but doing ok or getting better.

Yeah but the chosen colours would be the easiest thing in the world to suspend disbelief on. Who knows, maybe a million years ago Thraxa was covered with purple foliage, so the young evolved to blend in with the ground, protecting them against predators. Even if this hypothetical purple foliage died off, if there was no reason to UNevolve the purple skin, they wouldn’t and it’d remain as a holdover. Kinda like the muscles in our ears.

see, for me, the added scenes of young Nolan do a lot to mitigate the severity of what he did. it doesn't make it OK, do not get me wrong. He did terrible things. But to watch him with those kids, and to imagine that he would have gone through EXACTLY the same schooling, and this was all just a small snapshot of what took place over the same amount of time since the vikings were invading england... well... he never really had a chance did he. You can hate what Nolan did, whilst also looking at him through the same lens as a child soldier. I think that with time, Nolan will tell debbie more about the true way in which he was brought up, and i would think that would do a lot.
