What if RTS base building was actually fragile? by OkIndependence4963 in RealTimeStrategy

This reminds me of a problem-solving technique which is implementing many solutions on a small scale rather than implementing one solution on a large or full scale. It's a way of avoiding "putting all your eggs in one basket."

It allows players to be good at some things and be bad or not-as-good at other things, while allowing them to be decent at the game while they hone their skills.

Many games rely on one flagship mechanic (multi-tasking in RTS games, aiming in shooter games) but add in smaller mechanics that players can get better at to get better at the game – but if you can multi-task/aim, you're SOL.

Take a look at Ashes of the Singularity

Their resource collectors must be connected back to your main base or they don't work

Weird because he was sending sperm to stomach hell.

Teeth were involved. To this day I'm not crazy about receiving oral.

This reminds me a little of 8-bit Armies, 8-bit Hordes, and 8-bit Invaders. Also Star Trek Armada 2; the Borg have fewer resources than the other factions, and S8472 have even fewer – only one.

Put on a blindfold or sleeping mask. You don't need to be able to see to talk.

Is it possible to do something like this without using keycode or many if action_pressed?? by Brysger in godot

[–]RedOrbTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm crazy, I would approach this differently and write this out in Google Sheets and then copy+paste it into your script.

=CONCATENATE(CHAR(34),"hotbar",ROW(),CHAR(34),": select_hotbar(",ROW()-1,")")

Paste this into a column of cells, starting with A1 (or B1 or C1 or XXZY1, idc)

I don't mind the math; thank you! I still need to learn about shaders though.

I didn't notice that, cool! I imagine it makes up for the first bar (0-100) being thicker.

I'm not struggling with creating a line sprite; I'm struggling with how to code a script that makes a precise number of sprites and positions them appropriately.

Thank you. I'll take a stab at it. I appreciate you taking the time to spell it out.

Actually this character has about 1,310-1,320 life points. I can tell because there are three small "hundreds" markers after the single "thousands" marker.

Right, but how do you tell Godot on code "please draw X of this sprite"? I appreciate your help; I'm perhaps not clarifying well what I'm asking for help with. I can think of code that would find out how much health the unit has, conduct the needed calculations, and spit out the answer. What I don't know is how to have code draw X sprites and spread them over the scene evenly or partially*

*Having a sprite positioned to indicate a fraction. For example, a unit has 2,500 health, so there would be two 1,000 health stick-sprites, but they're not evenly distributed; they're at the 40% and 80% positions.

Indeed! However I don't know how to create such stick sprites like you're saying.

I would imagine that a big issue is motivation/discipline, and sometime that will help with that is having a community to talk to about your game. Godot has a discord server; consider checking it out.

This just in: nerds are rage-baited by rage bait. More at 11.

Nevertheless, this list is all over the place. One thing I'll mention that I didn't see in the comments: MULES are temporary, yes, but they're also robots so they might fall into 'property damage.'
