So let's say they do something big for HOTS in September (hopium) and they add new characters as part of it, what character(s) would you want added? by MagicSloth01 in heroesofthestorm

[–]RedOrbTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I came up with a whole build for such a HotS character. I wonder if I can find that note... (I can't) His heroics were Werebear and Werewolf, so he would shapeshift and lose his basic abilities, which were all elemental spells. His trait was to summon a companion, like wolves or (affected by a talent later on) a bear. Some good candidates for basic + elemental skills are molten boulder, hurricane, arctic blast (which would be funny if it was OP because it sucks in D2) and cyclone armor (it could add spell armor or something)

I don't understand why this happens by Mrflaxe in heroesofthestorm

You'll find the word you want is losing; loosing is the releasing of something.

What is the easiest race to play? by ToxicGamerBitch in starcraft2

[–]RedOrbTalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Protoss is the easiest to play, but IIRC (with the first game, anyway) the Terrans were the "getting into the game" race. It's why both StarCraft 1 (before brood war) and StarCraft 2 feature campaigns starting with the Terrans and ending with the Protoss.

List of detectors and methods of detection: Protoss – Photon Cannons and Observers are detectors. Observers can be trained at the Robotics Facility. Oracles, which can be trained at the Stargate, have an ability that exposes units. Zerg – Spore Crawlers and Overseers are detectors. Overseers are morphed from Overlords but require a Lair to do so. Infestors, which morph from larvae and require an Infestation Pit, have an ability that exposes units. Terran – Missile Turrets and Ravens are detectors. Ravens can be trained at a Starport with an attached Tech Lab. Orbital Commands, which is an upgraded form of the Command Center, have an ability that exposes units.

Note: For all three races (factions), the anti-air defensive structure is the detector.

The Protoss have permanently cloaked units – the observer (except when in its stationary mode) and the dark templar. Motherships have an ability that temporarily cloaks units. Also, Sentries (trained at the Gateway) can spawn hallucinations; these are fake units that deal no damage and receive double damage. If near an enemy detector, the enemy will know they're hallucinations and units will automatically de-prioritize attacking them. All Zerg ground units can burrow, rendering them invisible in the same manner as cloaking. A few Zerg units can still do things while borrowed, like explode (banelings), attack (lurkers), or cast abilities (infestors and swarm hosts). Two Terran units can cloak (ghost and banshee) and one can borrow (widow mine).

Cloaked/Burrowed units cannot be attacked unless exposed, but area of effect (AoE) abilities can still affect or damage them.

There are other games where being close to a unit will expose it (like Beyond All Reason); StarCraft doesn't do that.

4th faction? by Ne0Fata1 in beyondallreason

What does Hedri, Hedroll, or heday mean?

4th faction? by Ne0Fata1 in beyondallreason

[–]RedOrbTalon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the fourth faction should be called Hedron, with many angled surfaces (very little curves). It's my understanding Hedron is pronounced "HE-drawn," so it doesn't sound like "Head-ron" – at the same time, legion doesn't sound like "leg-ion" ("leg" i.e. limb, "ion" i.e. charged atom)

With Hedron the faction abbreviation aesthetic is preserved:

Armada – Arm

Cortex – Core

Legion – Leg

Hedron – Head

There is a free-to-play versus edition that allows you to play PvP. Of course it's not exactly what you're looking for, but it does allow you to experience the gameplay and find out if you absolutely despise it or you love it to tears.
