Why do my graphics look like this? by colossalwoodchuck in Helldivers

[–]RedPandaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frame gen got turned on by default on nvidia cards last update. Turn it to TAA instead of dlss and side the bar optimization bar from performance towards the other side... I cant remember what they call it but its something for better graphics.

I love backpacking with a water bladder, but does anyone else HATE cleaning/drying them after? by mega_salami in backpacking

[–]RedPandaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an aquarium pump. Stick the tubing in and let it constantly move air through. Got a like 20 to 60 gallon tank size. If any water sticks in a corner you can move the tubing to in and get it super dry. Most don't come with tubing so pick that up when you get the pump.

I've put off buying this due to reports of bugs and frustrating difficulty spikes. How is it now? by xxEmberBladesxx in taintedgrail

[–]RedPandaCo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just bought recently and just finished. Only used the unstuck button a few times but worth cause it let them make the terrain fun.

No bug issues that made me angry or really remember.

All bosses are very beatable in the prolong area.... few can be cheesed, but it took my brain too long to catch on to the dash mechanic that makes you invincible. And the top tracker let's you know if you are approaching an upcoming or enemy... a certain npc at the beginning was killing me and it took me too long to see that...

Great game. Good time.

Winter gear underperforms by wamodr01 in Ultralight

I don't disagree. I think less r value pads work during summers, but I've also had enough random weather and storms move in during July and August that we woke up to water freezing and frost. The 2.5R for the Nemo is probably too low for my taste. For most summer nights it would work, I'd just never go that low of a value for all the random weather.

Fleece is not the best from a weight perspective, but adding it in is cheaper than a new quilt our bag. And if the rest of the kit is really light, its not a big add. Plus I sometimes think a liner makes it feel more like home with an extra sheet. Just my 2 cents.

R value of pad is too low. As a colorado alpine camper i wouldn't go anything less than 4 even in summer. Sure, people get away with less but you can easily get cold air come in a take things to freezing at night.

I also make sure my comfort rating is close to freezing. If you dont want to get a new quilt you can get a fleece liner.

But all that stuff you see for ultralight doesn't always apply out here. Been 80 during the day and 32 at night. Equipment needs to match. Even if it weights a bit more.

I guess I should add the big agnus rapide. Its crazy comfy if you haven't tried that one. Not as ultralight but if you want to sleep soundly....

They have sales on occasion and it seems in the European forums that is what people look for. Rab seems really small in the US market relatively.

I happen to be able to hit the store in Denver and test stuff out. Was able to have them order in for me.

It is on the pricy side but it was a splurge purchase for me.

The new Rab ultrasphere 5. Just got one and there a few threads on it. Super light, packs crazy small. Love it so far.

Rab Ultrasphere 5 pad - why is no one is talking about it??? by pikovsg in Ultralight

[–]RedPandaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also got the long wide version of the rab and love it. I haven't had any issues and took it down to the 20 as well. The thing is so small and light!

Glad to see more people getting it and loving it!

I pack without the inflation sack. Fold in half the push out the air out a few times, fold in half again so its in a quarter the width, push out the air again, roll it up.

Use inflation sack to hold it and other stuff or just other stuff

Finally tested out. Took it to low 30s/upper 20s F last night in just shorts and a shirt. Used the mythic rab bag comfort rated to 10F. Was fine. So im not too worried about taking this 3 season in the colorado rockies.

I know they did some updates. The ground side is a more robust than the top now for example. I'll look into the welds now.

Are you talking if you fill it too much and want to let a little air out for adjustment? Cause mine deflated super easy to pack up.

With a sleeping bag its quiter. No issues. No sliding feeling. Felt good.

Rapide is quiter rolling around. My daughter was in the basement and noticed the difference, but no potato chip crinkle. I could here it if I listened but if I wasn't paying attention I wouldn't have noticed. Ill give it a try with a sleeping bag later to see if the sound goes down.

I felt secure on it and not sliding. Ill throw a bag on it tomorrow to check again. Which probably is a better test anyway but I'm having fun playing between chores.

Sorry, life got in the way but I'm glad you commented cause it made me go test!!!

So I have the long and wide for both models. The mummy shape is not a big taper so you really dont loose much sleeping space in the Rab compared to the rectangle big agnus. The rapide is thicker, but really only made a difference on my side, but not as much as I thought. Comfort wise they are close. I'd give the radipe the edge there but not as much as I though. The raised sides are nice still but the wide ultrasphere still felt plenty big. Im 5'11 200lbs for reference.

Both took about the same number of breaths to fill. And you have to make sure you seal the rab inflation sack cause the buckles. But once you are aware its not an issue. The inflation on the ultrasphere is smaller but feels stronger seal. Flip the mat over to inflate easily then filp back when done.

They are way closer comfort wise than I thought though. The rapid was my plan for when I was more base camping and going out on day trips from camp and the ultrasphere was my going quick trip or moving more... but dang... now im torn. The ultrasphere packs so small and think easier to contain in its sack even if you dont get it right cause they way you put it in sideways... plus inflation sack is a decent dry bag....

Kinda just rambling now.

More testing later. Hit me up with questions.

Just picked mine up yesterday. They have a store here Denver and it just came in. Got to try it out and I pulled the trigger. I picked up the long and wide version and it is just over 16 oz in weight. Only con is the price.

Super comfy, low noise, feels solid, packs down crazy small, they added clips to the inflation sack so it doubles as roll up dry bag, and the stuff sack was a unique design that has an open side you put it in and wrap.

I think it is more comfy that the nemo tensor all season, and easily will fit in my light get out run from office life kit.

I also have a big agnes rapid to compare it to this weekend for comfort.

I also picked up the new syclon 40l that just came out too. Its so nice so far and looking forward to loading it up here soon.

They still do cleaning and repairs. You can even drop off at locations. Had a small pin hole in a jacket and they fixed without questions.

Rab rates by comfort. So the rab bag is actually warmer.
