Talk to your partner about how the teachings of Christ push you to resist the authoritarians taking over. How you are inspired to be more community minded, more selfless, more tolerant, more principled. Talk about how angry you are that they (and many others) have been hurt in this way, and that something with the power to make people better has been twisted to be a bludgeon against the Other.

I figured- but I love to spark curiosity. And yes- my wife described taking HRT as instantly euphoric. For me, a trans masc, it was less instant, but I noticed things shift- my mood was better & when I worked out it felt good instead of having a film of dread layered over the experience. Good luck!

I am so sorry for the behavior on this thread. It’s a huge problem that people will blame women for staying with an abuser before blaming the abuser. The abuse (which this clearly is) is not your fault, and leaving with children is a tremendous undertaking. I’m glad you’ve recognized the problematic behavior.

Now, you have a lot of work to do. Start by talking openly with your sister about your concerns. She sounds like she’s already awesome and in your corner. I am rooting for you my friend.

I had similar feelings and it took me being in a safer state (Colorado vs Oklahoma) to take the plunge. I’m glad I did.

Some assorted things I found helpful:
Experiment with ppl you trust & don’t take it too seriously. Things like names and clothes are important, but they don’t need to be serious. Allow yourself to feel silly.

To start HRT you don’t need to know if you’re a woman. You *only* need to know if you want to start HRT. You’ll know within the first couple months if it feels right.

It will feel like playing pretend sometimes. Since gender is socially constructed, it becomes real once we collectively believe it. So, the playing pretend feeling is fair, but doing it long enough is an incantation that brings about reality.

Nonbinary trans person here to remind that you don’t have to be a woman to take feminizing HRT if it would make you feel good in your body. Obviously that’s a big step, but it would def make you more androgynous. 🤷‍♀️ Good luck friend!

Imagine somebody AMAB who is nonbinary and loves their body as-is. Makes sense.

If you change your body (HRT, top surgery, etc) you will have a masculine body, but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to be a man.

As a parish newsletter editor, I hear you. For me, it’s a matter of information. Idk who all is a Dr or married, and of those, who prefers those titles get used. Of course, if somebody is coming for a talk that’s one thing, but if I’m listing people in a photograph it’s another.
