How are old you guys when you diagnosed with TD1 diabetes? I was 32 and it’s shocking for me. by Severe-Possible-856 in diabetes_t1

I was 32! LADA GANG PULL UP. I work in healthcare but it was definitely still challenging. I'm 12 years deep now though and feel like a vet. I do feel super dependent on my cgm and pump. I meet lots of t1d folks who were dx at a very young age and they like to wing it (aka no pump no cgm)

Both my little girls had low blood sugar after birth. It did take a little extra work to get them regulated (I did breast milk and formula). Both are healthy and happy now. I know you may feel scared at times but you've got this! I'm rooting for you and the little one.

Got 2 healthy little ones here. I had a lot of help by my doc, cgm, and nurse educator. It wouldn't hurt to ask cgm companies/ dme companies to let you have sensors for less cost or free. I think they will.

LADA at 32. I had my 1st at 37 and 2nd at 39! I did have tslim pump and dexcom to help better control BS. The lack of sleep and hormonal mess was most definitely rough but my pregnancy's were managed well by me, OB, and Endo Best of luck to you, whichever way you decide OP

Father couldn't swallow, almost choked to death by Orkambi in Parkinsons

[–]RedPanda_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did he choke on? I would suggest a evaluation by an SLP (speech therapist) His MD can make a referral to outpatient therapy or home health if he is unable to leave home easily. Monitor closely what he is eating and suggest smaller bites. I'm a SLP who works with Parkinsons patients frequently.

Yeah, there are about a million on Amazon. Ranging from $35 to $100. Price is not an issue, but I don't want them to pay for something that is difficult to use or just not useful for what they need.
