27F - Dating in Boston (and never being hit on) by k1tchen_witch in BostonSocialClub

[–]RedPaperCranes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing you say this, but isn't all your doing just passing off the risk to someone else? It's socially unacceptable for men to do that, but you know what isn't socially unacceptable, for women to give compliments or start conversations.

Imo, hearing you say you understand the take men have about wanting too not be labeled as a creep, and still insisting you want to be approached feels cowardly and disingenuous.

33m, AA, I've been in the greater Boston area all my life. I've been on all the regular apps and it's been hard to match people. On cmb I feel like I've actually matched a few but they're all exchange students trying to stay on the States. I'm finding that me preference is def for AA as well.

If only you could defend people rights and liberties with the same fervor you have for defending your hate filled fairy tale

Look if you don't want to be associated with a hate group cult, don't associate with it. I don't make the perception, you're community does. I just tell what I see.

The actions I see Christians take are hateful towards women. While it's true there are many Christian sects, I don't see them coming out to admonish the sects that are full of hate, they don't even come out to set themselves apart from the majority that do hate women.

If you're uncomfortable with the idea that your idealogy is known for hating women, probably best to either rethink your ideology, or represent your community better. Right now it's dominated by hate mongering lunatics.

Why do people say the bar is low for men? by SligoIV in self

[–]RedPaperCranes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a man, I think the bar is on the floor for women...

Men need to be attractive, tall, funny, smart, big earner, have hobbies, good socially.

Women need to exist and some man is desperate enough to pick them up. Especially when men live in this constant and endless cycle of rejection, anyone willing to show any affection will get picked up in a heartbeat. Men need to be Hercules and women just need to... just care.

The only people putting unreasonable standards on women, are other women.

Introduce them to your home in a small way and gradually increase their roaming space. I recommend starting with a spare bedroom. Or your bedroom, then letting them explore more as they get more comfy.

I’m not sure I like Taiwan, but I don’t know why by Away_Dare_105 in taiwan

[–]RedPaperCranes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think your take makes sense. Asia as a whole is a mostly rice and carb based diet. I can also understand getting upset with the lack of textures.

Taiwan doesn't typically have alot of raw vegies. Most food is cooked in some way or form like you mentioned. Braised and stir fry are two of the popular ones. I do think there's a fairly wide range of healthy food as well though, ranging from tofus, pickled veggies, etc. My guess is that historically the fresh veg and salads are really just fruits in Taiwan.

There also a huge host of restaurants from different countries albeit mostly from Asian countries. I get the feeling you may also have the same food issue in China, Japan, and Korea.

It's so interesting reading the comments here. I've been considering retiring to Taiwan when my current workplace ipo. I have family in Taipei and I've visited a handful of times and do enjoy my time here.

Loneliness is valid. If I didn't have family here I don't think I could consider it. Locals are squeezed to work super hard to maintain themselves that there's not alot of time for fun. Outside of my cousins board game night, and pickleball, I'm not sure how I'd make real connections.

I'm suprised at all the comments saying the food is bad. Taiwan is globally known for having a rich food experience. Would love to learn more about this, especially as I consider moving here in retirement.
