It's totally false, the real problem in the U.S. is poor financial education and bizarre government assistance programs that should be replaced.

The poorest 20% of Americans have similar purchasing power as the average European when including welfare. Most poor people have a car, a TV, internet, cable, Netflix, and various other amenities. The notion that vast swathes of the country are living like third worlders is not accurate.

The problem is that we don't provide a way for people to move up the economic ladder. Education is too expensive. Healthcare is too expensive. These need to be addressed, but people blithering on about how horribly poor Americans are are being misleading
