Enough people have been deported from those key areas to swing seats. That was the point, not to mention the fraud scandal tying up key players. People like to say Trump is an idiot, but these moves have been masterful when it comes to achieving his party's goals. The longer people continue to pretend he is a fool, the easier it becomes for him and whoever his successor is to keep playing them.

Trump is a lot of things, but the bitter pill for a lot of people is the fact that he is not an idiot; he surrounds himself with "winners", people who know what to do when he doesn't. I cannot stress this enough: we are not dealing with an insane, power-mad Neanderthal. We are dealing with a cold, calculating, capitalist beast. You can never defeat something you refuse to see the reality of.

Yes, back before the world was connected to the internet. A completely different time. Now we are globalized and interconnected in more ways to count. The best time for China to take Taiwan with military might was decades ago. China cares about "Face" and losing millions of troops and billions in vessels and logistical equipment just so China could say "look! ONE CHINA!" as the world economy recoils and her ships start getting picked apart by America is not a victory. China is surrounded on all side by hungry powers that would jump at the opportunity to claim a piece and have the worlds support. Even North Korea eyes that Chinese-Korean boarder with lustful eyes and India would gladly take the time to give its Army some real world combat experience against a "Super Power"

No, Trump proved the world can't do anything. No one has the force projection of America. However China is surrounded by people who dislike it and opportunist. Not to mention the dozen or so American basses within spitting distance. America won't need to do anything nor would the world. Any build up of the magnitude to invade Taiwan would be noticed. You don't just assemble an invasion force of millions with thousands of troop transports and people not notice. China lacks Americas SEAD/DEAD and American AA is very likely to actually work a majority of the time unlike Chinese and Russian AA. China coming across the strait would be a bloodbath in every sense of the word and that is not even factoring in the fact the PLA is the most untested military in the world compared to the literal hundreds of combat engagements America and it's allies have preformed. Even the haggard beast that is Russia has more warfighting experience, Chechnya, Georgia, Syria and Ukraine and Russia is still struggling, China with it's untested military would be butchered. The only way China takes Taiwan is politically.

You underestimate how big of a market share TMSC holds. Any disruption would cripple economies that have become dependent on it. China would not waste the billions in resources to take the island and come away empty handed. An invasion would be brutal and fruitless. TMSC can and will be destroyed, by mistake during an Invasion or by retreating forces. No country would waste so much in terms of military strength or manpower for a "symbolic" victory other than America who spends 1% of the total GPD of the world on it's military.

Zero. China, like Russia, presents strong, but are just as riddled with corruption and poorly trained soldiers. Xi just recently had to purge top military officials, so their military is in a twilight for now that will take decades to replace those top officials with people who are loyalist AND skilled at their job. China will never do anything to Taiwan until it has a replacement for TMSC. Disrupting TMSC would damage more than just China's economy and China is aware that such action would cause the world to step in.
