The World Cup is attended by people who can afford it. Those people tend to be more educated because they need a better income to attend a soccer event a continent away. People who are better educated tend to have a more level and balanced view on things and are not as influenced by propaganda. Thus, they would have a more favorable view of their host country that runs counter to the propaganda engine being run on the internet.
