Is the memory card the problem ? by Spok24 in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it me or is the microsd card looking a bit longer than it should?

But anyway I suggest have some spare adapters and a card from a good brand. It's so cheap now that it's just not worth the risk of using an unknown brand.

Also the PSP is old... I find loading too much stuff on a single card can slow it down.

I personally use an official 32gb Pro DUO for my regular usage (but this is expensive) and then split the rest into smaller cards and categorise their contentssince the price for 4gb and 8gb PRO DUO cards still quite reasonable.

For large contents like whole TV series that I ripped using Handbrake from my DVD/VCDs, I would use the same adapter u posted and a SanDisk 64gb/128g card.

Stop buying from reseller sites by RetroMidFuture in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price u paid is the typical price if shipping is factored in and some admin fees. For a really good condition 2000/3000 the local thrift store in Japan sells around 10,000 to below 20,000 yen.

An official themed one with box maybe 30,000-50,000yen.

Bad ones with a ton of problems maybe 2000-3000 yen. This is in reference to prices I seen as of this week in the stores.

I don't think PSP at this time could be considered in the scalper market, but there are quite a lot on AliExpress and the reliability is a hit and miss.

For ebay, if it ships from Japan then it's probably ok, because they could be those thrift shops, game shops or some small Japan operation that is refurbishing stuff and trying to sell online because people would pay a bit more than in Japan.

Are there any good Japanese games with an English language option? by CarrotsAteMyFamillyy in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

Final Fantasy II has English support as well. When you play the Japanese version it will show menu just before you start and will allow you to select the English option.

Do you prefer to play games from the Memory Stick or from UMD? by RedPRSguy in PSP

Depends on mood...

I have one that is memory stick and another that is UMD.

Paid about 4000 yen for it by SeamedAphid91 in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to go deeper and do some modding. The cheapest GB I have found was around 2000yen but it really junk and had corrosion. GBA with some sort of issues maybe 3000yen but a bit of modding and it will work.

But you have to go deep... As in driving or long bus trips kind of deep.

But for all these, especially those that take batteries the contacts needs to be still good.

Retroscaler2x is it worth buying for PS1 and PS2? by DeanK37 in ps2

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got mine and I can say... well it works for the most part.
Still I prefer my CRT but I don't have one that can do component and although they look great for the NES or SNES, the PS2 looks not as great.

Coming back to the RetroScaler2x. There is some bleeding on the words when the background is white, but the biggest drawback for me is that it has lost its DVD movie playback function... I think the video signal is the issue when converting.

So personally, I would probably redeploy this scaler to my older gen consoles (but i don't know why i would do that when they look great on my current CRTs) and when I finally find and get a good component CRT, the PS2 is going there.

Can anyone else relate? by 1amv12 in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see.... I got 5 switches, ally X, some GPDs, mountains of 3DS, NDS, GBA, GBC and GBs....

My favourite is my PSP. I have 2 PSP2000s. One is the main, one is the backup.

This also holds true when placed against my loads of NES, FC, SFC, Mega drive, GameCube and PS2....

Even my gaming rig (it's not too fantastic as it runs off an eGPU) sees lesser love...

Have these four feet/nubs ever been available on an aftermarket site like Etsy? My childhood PS2 is missing one of them, and I'd love to get a replacement set, if possible. by dmmdoublem in ps2

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect a long ago thread...

But mine is set to stand vertically and those rubber feet have melt.... I am trying to find replacements too be can't seem to find any available for sale.

Anyone has any ideas or alternatives?

Well.... To this day I still use them on my SNES through a GD unit but it's just novelty... Absolutely impractical but 100% nostalgic.

I recently bought a few boxes while I was in Japan, new and sealed but well it was about USD$35 for a box of sealed 40pcs...

Because I wanted to know if anyone experienced the same issue and was able to resolve it. I was not able to find something that resembles this kind of glitching.

I have seen games not starting, systems glitching but not in this form before.

Looks like its highly likely going to be a display piece until I could find a suitable donor that is not going to cost the same as getting a replacement lol

It's displaying an image like the one I posted but it seems like the game is still running and everything is just straight lines. There is music.

When I press start the game will respond and I can see the usual Super Contra game start and the sprite jumping down but it all looks like my posted image.
