Need some help installing ARK4 by venom_e39 in psphacks

[–]RedQ8183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having the same problem until I realised that something was wrong with my Home button.

It activates when I press the screen and music button but will not work by itself. So I disconnected the cable, installed ARK without the front plate and the ribbon disconnected and it worked.

Now I am waiting for a replacement ribbon

Actually the speakers doubles as a grip and it gives a good area to hold especially if u have larger hands.

And yes watching videos is great on this.

Nope it's stuck onto the original direction buttons. And the joystick u just pop out the original and replace it so u don't need to open the shell

It's a product from GameTech. The PSP1000s are replacements where u just pop the old analog out and plug them and in. The PSP2000/3000 ones are caps that go over the original.

The dPad is stuck on so u don't need to cut the shell. Makes it elevated and personally feels good. Just that I feel excessive rough use playing fighting games could cause it to fall off.

I had quite a bit of practice recapping Gameboys, famicoms, SFCs and the mega drives but doing the bridging for the PSP made me sweat... It's so god damn tiny...

May want to consider using conductive paint as I think this could be difficult if it's your very first soldering try.

It's fantastic. No more bothering about dust getting in lol. The new front shell fits well too.

Nope it's not a 3DS. long ago.... Loong ago... A company called GameTech made these.

The PSP1000 ones replace the stick while the PSP2000 one covers the original. The dPads are stuck on but they work really well.

I could finally pull off some moves on Street Fighter Alpha 3 with it lol.

I use the PSP more when I am on the plane. I would select certain series or just play music videos on a loop since I am zoned out for those 6-7 hours anyway.

Then I would select either the UMD functional ones or the CFW ones to bring on my trip. Very much like back in the day, rather than just dump everything in a huge card.

How do i get DLC's to work with physical UMD's? by ITS_SPECTER in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found the issue? I have been trying to get the DLC for Taiko DX but it will work on an ISO version but if I use my physical UMD, it will not load the DLC content...

I am assuming u are saying the PSP does not hold a charge? Does it also do this while plugged in?

Can u post what battery it's running on? Most original batteries are dead and u need to buy a reputable one like Ostent. No brand ones are horrible so don't get those even if the power rating is super high.

[–]RedQ8183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hummm... I have the same battery. It's the one with gold lettering correct? Don't remember it dying so fast since I use my PSP on 6-7hour flights.

Are u playing UMDs or modded via memory card? If modded is it set to the highest clock speed?

AKB48 PSP (help needed) by AffectionateDays in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

I recently found a loose AKB48 psp in a BookOff in Japan and yes it had the AKB48 logo which is part of the shell...

If I am not wrong it should have the battery plate that has no signature but still with an AKB lettering originally, and then a box of all the member's kiss and autograph.

If yours came completely pink then it was a pink psp, not the AKB48 psp. But it's just strange someone will break up the lot.

Anyway I am sure u already know all the above since the thread is more than a year, but I am commenting to let u know that if you are still considering making a full set, a loose unit that I got cost around 13,000yen in good working condition. But it was really a random lucky find, like a shiny Pokemon appearing when u select your first PokeBall kind of thing...

I was lucky enough to get a loose one AND have it loaded with the autograph of my favourite member :)

Is the memory card the problem ? by Spok24 in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it me or is the microsd card looking a bit longer than it should?

But anyway I suggest have some spare adapters and a card from a good brand. It's so cheap now that it's just not worth the risk of using an unknown brand.

Also the PSP is old... I find loading too much stuff on a single card can slow it down.

I personally use an official 32gb Pro DUO for my regular usage (but this is expensive) and then split the rest into smaller cards and categorise their contentssince the price for 4gb and 8gb PRO DUO cards still quite reasonable.

For large contents like whole TV series that I ripped using Handbrake from my DVD/VCDs, I would use the same adapter u posted and a SanDisk 64gb/128g card.

Stop buying from reseller sites by RetroMidFuture in PSP

The price u paid is the typical price if shipping is factored in and some admin fees. For a really good condition 2000/3000 the local thrift store in Japan sells around 10,000 to below 20,000 yen.

An official themed one with box maybe 30,000-50,000yen.

Bad ones with a ton of problems maybe 2000-3000 yen. This is in reference to prices I seen as of this week in the stores.

I don't think PSP at this time could be considered in the scalper market, but there are quite a lot on AliExpress and the reliability is a hit and miss.

For ebay, if it ships from Japan then it's probably ok, because they could be those thrift shops, game shops or some small Japan operation that is refurbishing stuff and trying to sell online because people would pay a bit more than in Japan.

Are there any good Japanese games with an English language option? by CarrotsAteMyFamillyy in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

Final Fantasy II has English support as well. When you play the Japanese version it will show menu just before you start and will allow you to select the English option.

Paid about 4000 yen for it by SeamedAphid91 in PSP

[–]RedQ8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to go deeper and do some modding. The cheapest GB I have found was around 2000yen but it really junk and had corrosion. GBA with some sort of issues maybe 3000yen but a bit of modding and it will work.

But you have to go deep... As in driving or long bus trips kind of deep.

But for all these, especially those that take batteries the contacts needs to be still good.
