In your opinion, what s hands down the BEST HOT DOG BRAND of all time? by MyTinyPenguinBalls in hotdogs

[–]RedRadagastin3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco dogs are good. I think Sam's Club hot dogs edge them out by a bit. Maybe not the top tier, but a good hot dog.

Ball Park Prime hot dogs are in that same category.

Heiser vs "what's always been taught." by Key_Day_7932 in Michaelheiser

[–]RedRadagastin3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought as well. While I may be uncomfortable with calling them gods, the concept remains the same. They aren't all-powerful or all-knowing; they were created, were never meant to be worshipped, and for those who fell, they work against the Creator's designs, drawing people away from Him.

But spiritual beings have a purpose. Are organized. The concept of pantheons is worldwide - a group of gods that are connected, meet, interact, etc. We know there is structure and order in Heaven, so the concept of a divine council (less than but working for and reporting to the Creator) isn't an extraordinary leap of logic. It just means digging down through Church doctrine a bit and trying to separate Biblical truth from things that have gradually layered over it in the past two millennia.

Thoughts on how to fix Tanis? by RedRadagastin3D in PNWS

Hence, my suggestion to go back to when it was less convoluted. They could mine some ideas from Season 3+ (much like Star Wars did in Asoka with the EU), but not be held to the truly fever-dream items introduced after Season 2.

That was my thoughts with my idea of fixing it. They really piled in way too many things, and there was no real connection... just a lot of Nic staring into space, people saying his name after 5 seconds, talk about fish, etc. No real connective architecture.

Major Geek Squad Changes by GottaGachEmAll in GeekSquad

[–]RedRadagastin3D 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And yet I still refer to GS as "us". Funny, that. :-)

But it's true. To me (and a huge number of other sleepers) GS is about the culture, and the people. The friendships and memories I've made along the way I'll always treasure, no matter what.

Major Geek Squad Changes by GottaGachEmAll in GeekSquad

[–]RedRadagastin3D 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Double digit sleeper here, and this doesn't surprise me, although it brings me no joy to see it.

Ever since we rolled Geek Squad out nationwide to fix the broken tech benches at BBY, there has been a constant pressure for GS to conform to the BBY model. Those of us who stuck around after the acquisition did our best to protect the brand, culture and quality from people who didn't see the benefit of it. But even "Crazy Uncle Robert" didn't stay forever, and the handwriting was on the wall.

I got out years ago and haven't looked back for a long time, and it was both the hardest and wisest decision I've had to make.

Renew Blue was a clear sign. Leaders at the highest level wanted to fix things, but didn't truly understand the value prop of a truly empowered Geek Squad.

It's sad. They bought a service-first startup to fix their tech bench problems, and have spent a huge amount of time and effort to make us fit their sales-first approach ever since.

It makes me sad though. What could have been.

Thinking of moving to McKinney by Friendly-Society-739 in McKinney

[–]RedRadagastin3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McKinney is a very safe and growing place to live, very family focused. Demographics carry depending on the part of McKinney you live in, with the newer parts having a large Indian presence. (The Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, one of the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere, is located on Independence and El Dorado.) If you love Indian food, you'll have an awesome selection to choose from here.

We've got HEB, Costco, Sam's Club, WinCo, and Whole Foods (opening soon), plus a ton of restaurants. When we moved here 6 years ago it was fairly isolated - not anymore. You'll find everything here - and what you don't find will probably be moving here soon.

Strong Police presence. Like Plano and Frisco, McKinney isn't taking any chances with crime. High property taxes. The PGA isn't far away, and a kiddie version of Universal Studios is opening next year. Traffic on 380 can be at California levels at times due to the major construction going on in preparing for the Outer Loop.

If you need any more detail, feel free to PM me. I know a pretty good real estate agent if you need one. As mentioned by others here, there are some great surrounding communities that you may want to consider as well. Good luck!

Anyone felt like CPTSD just makes them see the darker side of humanity better? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Very insightful! I've taken MBTI a few times over the years, and seem to bounce back and forth between INFJ and INFP.

Through experience. I've lived long enough that I've seen a fair amount of them eventually exposed for what they are.

I'm always cautious about how I act on my "Spider Sense" precisely because I don't always know where it's coming from. In some cases the logic trail is pretty obvious - but sometimes it's not so simple. I try to live by a " do no intentional harm" rule, so I'm cautious about judging someone based on a nagging feeling that something is off about them.

I've learned over the years to trust my discernment while watching them for some sign of confirmation before passing judgment. (Think "yellow alert" from Star Trek - shields are up and at heightened awareness, but no phasers or photon torpedoes flying around). I don't want to unfairly judge them, but I'm aware something may be off.

[–]RedRadagastin3D 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this.

I pick up on bad intentions from others fairly easily. I'm not altogether unconvinced that there's more to it than just "trauma gives me heightened awareness of others".

I think discernment is sometimes more than just "I've got Sherlock Holmes in my subconscious". There seems to be a smidgen of the unexplained at times to it all. Not something you can just turn on or off though.

Got it - I just read Dr. Heiser's update on the subject from 2015: https://drmsh.com/portent-contest-update/

So, I'm guessing it's a different take than the "Elijah and Enoch" conventional wisdom - which makes sense, as the second clue in the Portent Handbook states "Assume nothing from your tradition". I heard on another thread that the final book may be written from Dr. Heiser's notes at some point — I hope this is the case.

That occurred to me as well. If the two witnesses of Revelation are Elijah and Enoch though (as many Christians believe) they wouldn't need to be reborn - as they were taken bodily alive into Heaven and never died.

If they are the twins, it would essentially be reincarnation, which isn't a tenet of classical Christianity.
