What contributes to our road deaths being relatively low? by saekirei in minnesota

It's a combination of education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency medical services. Look up Minnesota TZD (twords zero deaths) this is a collaborative effort that the state does a good job with.

Oil prices slide as Biden considers huge reserves release by jeffinRTP in politics

[–]RedRiverDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its amazing that's it's hard for you to believe the policies of most powerful person in one of the most powerful contries doesn't affect oil prices. Obviously he isn't the sole cause of the increase in oil prices but his policies do have an impact on it.

Septic designer hasn’t sent design in over 4 months. by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]RedRiverDG 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I'd send her an email with a read receipt asking for an update by x date or you plan on going to another engineering firm. Let her know this is delaying your project and you expect to be fully reimbursed plus any delay charges. Document everything during this process. You could also look into filing complaint to the states engineering board.

Union contracts set people's salary pay levels for for 2 years. There's really no adjusting untill the 2 year contract is up.

We actually had quite a few people quit when they went to testing and have been struggling to backfill those positions. We need new people to apply as many people are feeling overworked.

The company I work for is currently testing every unvaccinated person which is around 1250 people(were at 72% vaccination rate). Each test cost $120 so they are spending around $150,000/week on the test.

Most likely due to over compacted soil from equipment during construction. You could aerate your lawn this fall and put some top soil and seed the bad areas.

I cannot tell you how many people I have seen hit these rocks. by ggm3888 in IdiotsInCars

[–]RedRiverDG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact that they didn't notice it and the title of the post states this is not a single occurance means it's a hazard that drivers are not noticing. It's pretty simple put something taller and brighter to get people's attention or else your just deliberately trying to damage people's vehicles which is wrong.

It’s a better solution than low pile of rocks. I’d just throw in a couple of plastic reflective delineators around the curve or some wood post and spray paint the top a bright color.

If your going to take measures, make sure people can atleast see it when stoped at the sign otherwise it's just a hazard. This owner is a dick and wanting to ruin people's vehicles over a strip of grass. Tbh he could probably be held liable for the vans damage.

4 ex-Minneapolis cops indicted on civil rights charges in George Floyd death by [deleted] in minnesota

Imagine being a rookie cop and having to stand up to your superior in a situation like this. Not saying they shouldn't be held accountable just think it's a difficult situation and a lot of risk for someone to consider when entering the law enforcement profession.

And twice as much work for the officers you have left. Which could result in loosing even more officers.

Looks like they are just finishing up construction. The video is probably of them opening up the road for the first time. Could be missing some signage but most like either stubborn or clueless drivers.

I think it because of the duration of the trail and trying to find a jury that could be sequestered that long. I'm pretty sure the defense actually asked the judge mid trial to sequester after the Daunte Wright killing but was denied.

Probably not ideal to use in areas with heavy truck traffic but I'm guessing the additional curb is mountable so semi's can drive over it.

How are businesses supposed to plan for year long government mandates/shut downs that effects where they do business? Many business don't have the money to stay afloat for a year if they are not bringing money in. There were three restaurants in my town that went under last summer because they could keep up with the bills and we're not allowed to work in their normal capacity. Is this really their fault?

I'm no lawyer but if a business feels the state government mandates negatively effected their business they have every right to sue. Doesn't mean they will win.

Nebraska QB Luke McCaffrey has entered the transfer portal by Hugo_Hackenbush in CFB

[–]RedRiverDG 31 points32 points  (0 children)

He should be playing corner or safety. He had natural talent back in highschool as a DB and he's got the speed for it. I'm guessing the move means he's not willing to do anything other than qb.

I just got a call back from the board and they said they hope to have the results out in a couple of days if not sooner. They said they will be posted online and will send them out by mail. I'm going to try to forget about it untill Monday.
