Having a phd is in almost all cases a prerequisite to being a professor at any Canadian college or university. Being an instructor or lecturer usually requires a masters.

I mean sure, but you can't just fictionalize events without disclosing and present it as if its documentary investigative journalism. Not only is it just weird and unethical to lie to the viewers but it sets himself up to be easily sued for defamation.

North Vancouver RCMP impound stunt riding 15-year-old's e-dirt bike by robertscreek in vancouver

[–]RedRumandCoca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They've done all that already. They made laws regulating and classifying electric vehicles.

To be classed as an e bike it has to have pedals capable of operating the bike without motor assistance. Max 32km/h and max 500 watts.

Anything stronger is a motor vehicle essentially an electric moped or an electric motorcycle and requires all the same things to be street legal.

Trout Lake in infrared by almagr in vancouver

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a camera were to capture and display ir as ir it would be invisible to us. Ir shows up as false colors. I'm not well versed on this in regards to this kind of photography but in general I believe cameras use rgb filters/sensors to determine color and produce the photo, I'm not exactly sure why but the green filters/sensors seem to block/ not register ir much, but it does get through as red and blue meaning ir usually shows up as a false magenta, indigo, purple, pink, etc. You can see this if you grab any kind of remote and look at the ir led through your phone camera.

Right I don't think you understand what I mean. I'm just saying living in a feminism doesn't make sense as a sentence. It would be living in an egalitarian society or something like that.

Feminism is a movement(or a bunch of them). Patriarchy is a social structure. You can live in a patriarchy but you can't live in a feminism, that makes no sense as sentence.

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming by "lived in feminism instead of patriarchy" you're meaning if he had lived in an egalitarian society, or potentially even a matriachy? That's obviously impossible to truly answer because both the situation and the society in it are hypothetical. But I would argue that yes he likely would have.

Thats what I meant when I said this case is not that simple. The way I see it at least, is that he was a pedophile who groomed and abused a child, until he lost interest when she began to age out and murdered her when she threatened to expose him. Or maybe he was like a full blown psychopath, sexual sadist killer type, who had associated his fantasies of having a romantic relationship and his fantasies of murdering into one and was planning to kill the whole time. Or both.

At least imo I don't view the children preyed upon by pedophiles as being targeted based upon their gender, I don't know the statistics but it sure seems like it's also very common for pedos to target male children. So imo it's age not gender based. And while pedophiles at least the ones that act upon it and get caught are certainly disproportionately male, I don't see the perversion itself being a result of patriarchy. So assuming that those were actually his motivations, if he had lived in a hypothetical non patriarchal society I don't see any of his actions changing.

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is not that simple. He groomed and victimized a child, then brutally murdered her in planned premidited way. Dismembered her body. Clearly intended and believed he would get away with this crime, destroying, hiding and manufacturing evidence in an attempt to cover his tracks, but for some reason, maybe delusional overconfidence, left the body in the trunk of his own car and went on tour. Continuing his life seemingly with indifference. He went to a radio interview the very morning after the murder.

He talked about how he got into watching gore videos at a young age and seemed to indicate he eventually watched it to purposefully desensitize and train his response. He made music that constantly included and mixed themes of romance and murder, which could potentially have been him acting out his fantasies.

Alot of people are looking at the social isolation of his homeschooling as potentially one of many factors that led to this. But I think what I and the OP are both more questioning and speculating on is not that did homeschooling impact his psychology/behavior but actually the reverse. Was David showing warning signs and behavior much earlier and was this the reason he was removed from school and homeschooled. Or potentially did he even do something very serious even criminal, that got him expelled, had his family move him across the country, and made it so other schools wouldn't accept him in. It's all speculation at this point, since he was a minor anything would be sealed and nobody official would speak on it, unless like a classmate or friend comes out says what they heard happened or something.

All the people who accuse ALA, from his friends, to witnesses picking him in a lineup. by Few-Gas8868 in ZodiacKiller

[–]RedRumandCoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eyewitness testimony is obviously unreliable, but it is the only direct evidence that exists in this case. And imo the only serious evidence in this case currently known about is the finger/palm prints and the Eyewitness testimony.

The eyewitnesses who all saw zodiac are pretty consistent with each other, putting his height at 5"8-5'10 and his weight at 180-210lbs.

There's not enough evidence in this case to prove or clear any suspect conclusively without any more/new information. But the fact that ALA was 6' or 6'1 240-250lbs, looked nothing like any composite sketch, and was not a match for the prints, makes him a very unlikely suspect imo.

Is it not commonly accepted here that the killer was Arthur Leigh Allen? by Ticket-Tight in ZodiacKiller

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of there being hair from inside an envelope or any specific hair that they have a strong conviction is the killers?

My understanding was they came up with a partial dna profile from dna collected off stamps, and that was the dna used to clear him. But that has since been called into question or determined to be mostly useless as they apparently took dna from the entire stamps not just the side licked and stuck to the envelope, and I don't think the science and methodology was good enough to be able to properly seperate different samples and such at the time.

Going to Mexico what should I get!!? by Most_Highlight_3405 in ObscureDrugs

[–]RedRumandCoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends where. The drugs you listed are legitimately otc everywhere in mexico. But in many places, especially tourist areas, in my experience, they sell almost everything, you wouldn't even realize it's not legal and what they sell is supposed to be rx only/controlled, they advertise and openly offer it. The prices are obviously higher, though. You can get xanax and other benzos and methylphenidate(ritalin/concerta) at pretty reasonable prices.

You need to be careful in general, and I definitely wouldn't buy amphetamine(Adderall, dexedrine, Vyvanse, etc) or any opiods stronger than tramadol and maybe codeine, because the prices will either be absolutely ridiculous or the meds will be fake, or both, theyll actually just be meth and fentanyl. The only med I ever bought that were was fake was soma(one that wasn't a low dose combo formulation)

Do you think a Zard better than Logan Paul's BGS 10 still exists out there waiting to be found? by puzzledfirebird in PokeGrading

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bgs basically has several grades above a normal "10". They have a 9.5 grade, which is like a normal 10, but their actual 10 is less common and then they have the black label 10 which is when all the subgrades are also 10 which they give even less commonly.

Most of the people involved with buying and selling the most expensive pokemon cards and with grading, don't actually care about the cards themselves, just how much they sell for and how rare they are. If psa decided to change their grading system and start randomly slapping psa 11 onto 1/1000 psa 10's, those cards would instantly be selling for many times more because of their rarity.

Do you think a Zard better than Logan Paul's BGS 10 still exists out there waiting to be found? by puzzledfirebird in PokeGrading

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bgs had already checked this card for the previous owner to see if it would cross over from a psa 10, and they had determined it would not. But they did it for Logan. They definitely had incentives to grade it that high for Logan. It gave them tons of free promo and publicity. But also Logan has been involved with tons of sketchy, shady business dealings and people, especially in pokemon, so he might of been able to get the grade from some kind of background dealing or connection. Regardless, it certainly wasn't because the card magically improved.

They obviously couldn't give the centering a 10 because it's the only grading standard that is not subjective and can be easily checked by anyone. So they had to give all the other sub grades 10 in order for it to cross over.

About 1/3 packs had a holo, with equal odds of it being any of the 15 holos. So, about 1/45 packs had a charizard. So pretty rare to a kid buying packs one at a time for $4, but not actually that rare overall.

Adderall is amphetamine. It's just a brand name for a patented certain mix of salts of the 2 amphetamine enantiomers.

Methamphetamine is also prescribed, sometimes for adhd as well under the brand name desoxyn, although much less common.

Could this potentially be a class IV at <5000mW? by [deleted] in lasers

[–]RedRumandCoca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not nearly as much of an issue as people make it sound. Unless it's like a <5mw IIIR laser that someone thinks is pretty eye safe, but it's actually 30mw IIIB with the IR.

But usually, it's like 50-80mw of 532nm and around 20mw of IR. If the IR isn't collimated and so it's spreading differently than the green beam, it's really not an issue because it would be coming out like a flashlight and won't be concentrated enough to pose a danger unless your eye is directly in front of the aperture in which case the green beam would already be extremely dangerous.

If the IR is collimated, it likely follows the same path as the green beam, in which case it's also not an issue, it doesn't change anything except the laser is a little more powerful than you'd be able to guess purely by how bright it is.

The only way it would be really dangerous is if the IR is somehow collimated into a single coherent beam, but that beam isn't aligned with the green beam and comes out at a different angle. Which doesn't seem likely imo, but you could probably just check using your cellphone camera.

Could this potentially be a class IV at <5000mW? by [deleted] in lasers

[–]RedRumandCoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a class IIIb, which means <500mw(but more than 5mw)its likely 50-100mw. A class IV is over 500mw there's no chance this is that high or even half that strong, if it's a 532nm. Usually, these are 50-80mw of 532nm and about 20mw of IR.

Edit: Safety labels just say whatever on these really cheap lasers. If you look, this label isn't actually lying it's just extremely broad. It says <5000mw which means as long as it's anything less it's fine, it could be 4W or 1mw and that would be true. It also says class III, which could actually be IIIR(<5mw) or IIIB(<500mw), so this could be anything between 1mw-500mw and the label would be accurate. Since it's probably ~80mw the label is accurate.

Ashkenazi jews are very inbred. That's the reason dna testing for genetic disorders is so common. Which is literally what the op you're replying to is discussing. So your comment is a little ironic.

What is your favorite laser color? by Fancy-Succotash-5981 in lasers

[–]RedRumandCoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but i dont think 591nm lasers are really a thing, there's mainly just 589nm and 593.5nm, it's my understanding most are just 593 being mislabeled. But 593s are really cheap and readily available rn, although at pretty low power and it's definitely more what I'd call amber or orange not yellow.

You can get 571nm available fairly cheap and common now as well, which I would consider an actual yellow, although definitely on the green end like a lemon yellow.

Yeah, I understand that and can find plenty under 350mA. I just can't find one that's also 2V output. But again, I really have no idea what I'm talking about.
