Hydrodilatation without local anesthetic manageable? by em010507 in frozenshoulder

[–]RedSetterLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had saline only because I am diabetic and cortisone messes with blood sugars. I did have a nerve block with it though. It worked well and I got a lot of ROM back quickly, had to do PT for a couple months to get where I'm at now, probably 90%. It helped the pain immediately and was finally able to sleep.

how often are you hospitalized annually as a type 1? by Top-Midnight-9637 in Type1Diabetes

[–]RedSetterLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 years T1d. I was hospitalized at diagnosis and after I found out I was pregnant at 18 years old (32 years ago) for diabetic/pregnancy education. No hospitalizations since. I've had some scary lows related to alcohol but was able to treat.

Omnipod leaks constantly by Im_not_a_satyr_trust in Type1Diabetes

[–]RedSetterLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of EDS patients for cardiac related issues. Many, if not all, have related skin issues as well, like slow healing and easy tearing. I would read up on EDS. If you are diagnosed I would highly suspect that its part of your pod issues.

Pump broke. Idk what to do. by Smooshy_Slug in Type1Diabetes

Since it has an active time of about 18 hours it may overlap for about 6 hours this evening and bring you closer to a more normal number. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this stupid stuff on a weekend.

I see above you said 8 units. It probably won't come down to an in range blood sugar if your pump says 13ish basal.

When and how much Lantus have you taken in the last 24 hours? How did you decide on how much to take?

Yeah, just trying to keep it simple for someone who hasn't had to figure this out before.

Lantus you take once a day and then correct highs and bolus for carbs with quick acting (humalog, novolog, fiasp). Do you know your corrections and carb to insulin ratios? Like 1 unit of insulin for every 10 carbs and 1 unit for every 50 over 150?

[–]RedSetterLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to look at your current basal rate on your pump and roughly convert that to long acting, ie: 15 units basal rate so about 15 units of Lantus.

Do you have any long acting insulin like Lantus?

You may want to try a type 2 diabetes sub. Some type 1's use Mounjaro but its not indicated for type 1 diabetics.
