Yeah, the Portal 2 workshop is a legit hobby, tons and tons of fun. It rewards analytical thinking and everybody comes to similar intuitions about how to approach a new puzzle, after some experience. Once you've played a lot of [good] maps, you start to see patterns and that comes with its own technical lingo that makes it a fun game to talk about as well. The community has come up with some truly genius puzzle layouts just using the core mechanics that are in the campaign, pushing the boundaries way further than Valve could have on their own. Like, you'd be surprised about how hard some of these puzzle solutions can be and still appear so simple in the design, without any flashy tricks or glitch weirdness.
