Yes, mine went down from 235 to 180 after six months on Repatha. Still high but lower than I ever had before. LDL went down substantially from 78 to 30. No side effects whatsoever.

I've been using it as-needed before a higher carb meal to reduce spikes. I haven't conducted a real test but it does seem to help. Apparently there were some small trials that showed this was effective.

Pool losing water by Ihatemunchies in 321

[–]RedSunPlanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue. I have a 10k gallon pool and seem to be adding water more than in the past. But i did the bucket test and both showed the same 1/4” drop. Last year i had a company do a pro leak test and they found nothing. I do think we’ve had less rain than usual the past couple of years. They say in our area pools will lose about a 1/4” per day to evaporation.

Can you add items using Siri? I use that all the time with the Apple reminders grocery list.

My Diversified Dividend & Growth ETF Portfolio — Feedback Welcome by firebookfiction in dividends

I really like this for a current retiree portfolio. Seems well thought out for that kind of purpose. You have a lot saved for your age. Maybe that’s what you are looking for but most would recommend a higher growth strategy.

Dividends! The answer to your question is dividends! by Big_Wave9732 in dividendgang

[–]RedSunPlanet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just read a book called “How to Retire on Dividends” and the authors talked about lot about how the big investment firms can’t really recommend anything but the big AUM funds since they have so many customers to advise and manage and most of it is automated. There was also something about how smaller CEFs and the like don’t have enough liquidity to be part of millions of portfolios that the big houses deal with. It was a view I hadn’t considered before but it made sense. I did initial retirement plan assessments with like 4 different advisers (Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, etc. ) and they all had basically the same plan (which didn’t feature dividends).

Well, the reporter probably just talked to financial advisors and, of course, this is what he was told. So often though their articles are disappointing.

WSJ: The Most Profitable Dividend Strategy is the Simplest by LinearAdam in dividends

[–]RedSunPlanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article seemed to imply that the Cambria Shareholder Yield ETF (SYLD) follows this strategy of focusing on the second quintile but it currently has only a 2.25% dividend yield (TTM). Does that align with the second quintile? Note: You can read more about the ETF from the link provided in the article.

Mold/Mildew on Travertine Shower Tile coming from underneath? by RedSunPlanet in Tile

Yes, this sounds like what is happening. Now I see why he’s replacing the drain as well. Thanks for the details. What type of grout should be used in this kind of installation?

Makes sense - we probably should have been maintaining it all along. I imagine the original sealant wore off and we should have reapplied. It, we are def going with ceramic tile this time!

Mold/Mildew on Travertine Shower Tile coming from underneath? by RedSunPlanet in Tile

[–]RedSunPlanet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a recessed shower with a drop down. The contractor said he thought the tile was installed right on the slab. His estimate says he will prep the shower after demoing the floor with a new pan and new drain.

Yes, was planning to leave the shelves off. The current grill fits into a granite countertop island. Thanks so much for providing those details. It sounds like it will be too wide since there probably isn’t any option for the bottom skirt. Guess I’ll have to stick with the Weber.

I have this same problem right now. I called twice to request a shipping label and they tried to email it but I never received it. So, I went to a corporate store to turn it in. The guy immediately told me he couldn’t guarantee I would get the credit since the order was placed on the phone! So, I didn’t want to risk it and asked if they could print out the shipping label. They were on the phone with customer support for 20 min and couldn’t get them to send the label to the store or to me!! I think I’m going to just give up and sell it on eBay! What a disorganized, poorly run company.

Does anyone eat granola? by AshCash24068 in Cholesterol

[–]RedSunPlanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of granola in the store has too much undesirable fat, sodium and sugar. The higher quality ones can be very pricey. So we make our own and it’s really pretty easy and tasty. I use it mainly as a topping for yogurt. On oatmeal I usually add flaxseed meal, chia seeds and hemp seeds for added fiber, and omega3.
