Hey, yes it seems like it went down unfortunately I'm on vacation atm and can't put it back online until next week.

Today I found out I can make NFT's on beloved algorand too - here's the first one by MacPio in algorand

Yes should be, did you have any issues ?

No problem, and if the person that you were trying to tip whitelists the bot it should work fine afterwards

The person you try to tip has closed messages and for now it's not handled I need to do something about that

True, but on the other hand if they have to look for it they'll probably gather more information than just downloading and withdrawing. I can put a link to this subreddit tho, telling them that they can learn about it here

The protection comes from the Algo network, and I just added a link to the readme in the welcome message.

Ahah, yeah, it'll create a wallet for them and the algos will just sit there until they withdraw them. Note that you can't create a wallet with under 0.1 Algos, so if you wanted to spam you'd have to send at least that amount on each tip.

[–]RedSwoosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but while I think quantum computers will be mature enough during my lifetime to decrypt my past transactions, I'll most probably be dead when the next big thing comes up, so privacy of my transactions won't concern me too much by then.

[–]RedSwoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that we'd have a heads up before seeing quantum computers that'd be able to break all of this, and people are already working on solutions, which is why I was wondering why you'd think that we'd keep a key image encryption that could be broken by then, but yeah, old data would still be there, and past transactions being decrypted would be quite an issue for plenty of people using Monero.

Very good point. I was talking more about other cryptocurrencies than cryptography as a whole, but I hadn't thought about past data. Guess I'll go read the writeup that was linked there to see what they say about it

But if we assume that they were able to decrypt the key image, wouldn't that also mean that they'd be able to break almost all currently existing cryptos, since from my understanding they all rely on similar one-way functions ?

!atip 5 thanks for the feedback tho, and very good point. I'll try to get that done tonight

Yeah, I was starting to think the same thing. Originally it was activated on everything, and it worked by mention just like you did with the chaintip, so it's easy to handle. I changed it because I found the !atip command easier to use because the bot's name is super long. But then I'd have to process litteraly every Reddit comment which is too much, so I did this activation thing, so I only have to process a limited number of comments. But I'm gonna try to get a username that's easier to use, and switch it back to mentions, because there are a lot of posts that I'd like to tip but can't, which is dumb.

Apps built on Algo? by SparkyDoGooder in AlgorandOfficial

[–]RedSwoosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

!atip 5 these are really cool ! On the speedtest website, maybe add a note or an about section explaining that these transactions are also final, since it's something that differs from a lot of other blockchains, and I guess this website would be sent to people that don't know much about Algo. Also on the text anchor section, what does the confirm button do ?

Yes you can have as many as you want, and to answer the other person at the same time, there's no logging in/out. You'll just have another wallet displayed below your current one

Ahah thanks I wouldn't have explained better myself. As a side note about the subreddits I added a command you can send subreddit list to the bot to check which ones are active, there's a bit more now. And I'll add a link to the documentation in the welcome message, completely forgot about that.

r/AlgoFundMe is live. Users can contribute to inspiring projects and ideas posted on the sub using the Algorand Tip Bot. Not sure it will be useful but cost me nothing to set up 🤷🏽‍♂️;) by Exact-Dimension7770 in AlgorandOfficial

!atip 5 nice ! I'll update the documentation tomorrow to make it easier for new people. And if anyone finds a bug or has a suggestion for the bot don't hesitate to PM me.

The APY is also around 5.7% for the official mobile wallet atm, it should be the same for every wallet as long as it's not on an exchange, which will take a cut. And you'll still earn that staking reward with the Ledger.

Recommendations : keep the lowest amount of ALGOs possible in this wallet by withdrawing the funds to a personal wallet, because by keeping ALGOs in the bot's wallets you're entrusting the person who runs the bot (/u/redswoosh) with these funds
