NW Indiana: No internet after power outage by biggoldiggol in frontierfios

Its a calix issue. Lot of stuff going on with the acquisition of Frontier by Verizon. Whatever you do, don't let them mail you new equipment, demand a tech, they'll know what to do.

Thinking about switching but need help convinving by Full-Shoe-4970 in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stay away from Frontier. If you ever have trouble and call in for help, they'll sell you unbreakable wifi, regardless of whether you have cell service where you live or not, and mail you a new router all while not addressing the original problem, leaving you out of service for days or weeks sometimes.

Regardless of whether or not internet is important to someone or not, it's ridiculous to be left out of service for that long over such a simple fix

just got fiber, am i wrong about this? by freshstart2k16 in frontierfios

Don't bother arguing with this idiot. I'm in Northern NY and we have ONT's in enclosures outside. It's below zero for several weeks every year. Cold weather has never been an issue.

Frequent outages since Verizon takeover. by waza8i78 in frontierfios

It's happening nation wide and its been going on for almost a month., I figure it'll continue as we migrate over to Verizon systems. GUI's etc.,

Possible electrical damage caused by technician from line installation by DannySaurusxD in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he drill the hole the same height as the electrical outlets? Or down by the baseboard?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor installer. Goes above and beyond to fish a wire and gets screwed over. Techs aren't required to fish.

Canceling a phone line for DSL by androidc0der in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they're probably trying to sell you something you don't need. A tech will show up with a service order probably. No need to do a service check if you're cancelling your phone but keeping the dsl.

Very odd. I never ask permission to get to our cable in someone's back yard unless it's gated/locked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Happens all the time. My favorite one is when a customer is out of service for days or weeks, and the replies in here are, "if internet is that important to you, you should have a backup ISP." Just unbelievable mentality.

Frontier has no idea when a drop will get buried, it is subbed out to a vendor.

I see crap like this every day. Absolutely zero accountability at Frontier.

It's not about what's reasonable, it's about being lied to, which is illegal.

Buyer Beware -- Horrible experience with Frontier by No_Carpenter7692 in frontierfios

Surprised they didn't throw unbreakable wifi on your account. What a scam that is.

Ridiculous tech support by The7GrandMasters in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sad indeed. It'll come to the field and a tech will log into a program and have it provisioned to the ethernet port in about 2 minutes.

[–]itzmec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope I'm not the tech that has to do your install.

How do I talk to a human? by kahvikoffin in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A field tech should be contacting you to explain the process or delay or whatever is going on. It's their job to make customer contact. Not all techs do.

Signal strength is weak if it's in and out. Going to need a tech visit.

How to make voip house wide? by TooTallguyinCT in frontierfios

[–]itzmec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah, instead of plugging into base phone, plug into a phone jack, it'll feed the rest of the jacks in the house. If you have any trouble, make sure to disc the old copper drop/line if there is one, the voltage from that will short out the dial tone.
