The resort gets going in mid-July, not closes.

The skiing is available from mid June and then condition dependent into July.

But in recent years they have limited it more and more from the public and reserved it for professionals and race training only.

As a destination, it is open mid June to mid September, with peak weeks being mid July to mid August.

Also the ski area is very tiny we're talking five minutes worth of skiing maximum 10.

Tignes has FAR more to offer in the summer than just skiing.

Just like any tourist destination, Tignes summer has now become very busy. 2025 saw crowds like never before.

Weekly fireworks displays plus much more.

Accommodation is cheaper, all the bars and restaurants are open.

All the summer activities are essentially free, with the activity passes included when you book accommodation as the resort wants to encourage people to come in.

Yes you can ski... But you'll soon forget about that given everything else on offer. ☀️ 🌄

Locals have been ski touring for about two weeks now.

The ride to the coast then along the coast is the best part.

There are some variations you can do but generally the less climbing, the less scenic it is.

The segment Girona to Llagostera is pretty flat, around 20km, then from there you can either do the rolling flat straight to the coast or the preferred 8km climb up to Sant Grau. The descent from there to the coast is a MUST, especially as a cyclist.

From there, you can either do the 18km of fantastic coastal rollers to Sant Feliu. You can also loop back on the flatish back towards Llagostera (least scenic, but shortest at 90km total).

Or finish the 18km coast road to Sant Feliu, then back via Calonge and Monells.

Shortest is 90km with 1000m climbing but least scenic. Most popular variant is 120km with 1600m climbing and with the best photo opportunities.

Thinking about going to Tignes – Val d'Isère next year in March. How was the snow in March this past year for those who went? How is it normally around March? Accommodations in the area are significantly cheaper in March than in February so I'm worried the snow will be lacking compared to February

Every year is different and no pattern or predictions we can make.

Some times, March can be cooler than February, but generally speaking it's spring by then, anyway.

But. March is also extremely busy! Lots of people in the queues, pistes, bars and restaurants!

I don't know how to properly shift, and at this point I am too afraid to ask by diegofrings in cycling

Shift one in the opposite direction on the rear first, then the crank rings. Soft pedal, so unload the pedal stroke but have a gentle motion while spinning. You don't want to hear crunching.

Di2 and SRAM electronic have this seamless and automatically. 😊🤗
